Adultery
Unfortunate that today's youth don't follow that pattern. Glad to hear you got your stuff back! You can probably go after the parents for the restitution too if you were so inclined.
Draco1962
I know I am going to sound like my parents and grandparents by saying this, but since the government has stepped in and says we can't dole out corporal punishment to our children, they no longer have fear of consequences. I am not suggesting beating a kid with the buckle end of a strap or anything like that, but sometimes you have to get to the "seat" of the matter to get their attention. After a certain age, it doesn't work as well so taking away things or making them work it off is the next step. Even then, there are those that have a skewed moral compass that will never point north.
Adultery
As a kid who got the "buckle end" on more than one occasion I still found ways to get in trouble, believe me.

hansolo77
Even more appropriate. Dude this is so real too. I work in a grocery store deli and I see stuff like that ALL THE TIME... I wanna just go out there and slap the parents for letting their kids get away with that with not even yelling at them. Wow, so you lost your laptop and got it back and Dell says you can still keep the old one?! Why don't I just go steal my brother's then give it back after he calls them up, then when he gets his new one he can give it to me. Lol, free laptops all around! Still, cool that everything is coming to a half way happy close.
KRC
Han,My insurance stated that any stolen properties would result in an immediate replacement to the value of the item in question, Dell said that after the replacement laptop had been delivered, they didn't see fit too have the old laptop returned to them. I've already sold screen, Ram and HDD for £120 to a mate.
KRC
Received settlement from my insurance today, a little over £3k, this was for jewellery that was never recovered, a couple of rings and a necklace. The parents of the thieves also gave me £600 yesterday for damages to laptop, basically it was their kids fault they water logged the laptop, and a further £250 for property damage. At last some justice. I never fully found out what punishment they got though.
