A couple bugs to report:

  • When the emulator selection music plays, it doesn't stop when you exit the emulator anymore. I have to manually stop it or advance to the next track.
  • GameEx still crashes randomly (but seemingly far less), only now it seems it's happening when Attract Mode starts and goes for a little bit. If I play games there's no crashing at all... Even if I play the game that crashed Attract Mode in the first place (it's not when it loads, it's random and during a game not on loading of a game).
  • Then there's that pesky weather thing (I'm using a V4 theme if that helps you diagnose it, it also may be happening in other version themes, I can't say for sure).

There may be more but this is what I've noticed so far. I hope that helps out. :)

Everything's working! Thanks Tom!

Sorry Tom but everything above 12.70 has been a fail!

I just tried 12.75 and all I get is a black screen but I can hear my arcade ambience playing and on my second monitor it shows logo of the first emulator on my list and that it nothing happens I can't even hit ESC to exit back to my desktop.

Sorry! Gonna revert back to 12.70 until these issues are resolved.

No log Krak?

Using 2 monitors here too and it works great on my setup. ;)

No offence but unless you post a log you will likely be staying on 12.70 for a while. All issues are resolved AFAIK.

None taken. My fault for not posting my log however I went back and re-installed it this morning and it is working with 12.75 the startup time is like 10-12 secs before the main screen shows. The second monitor displays before the main one. Will be able to give it more test tonight after work. Sorry for not posting the log ( a rookie mistake).

? about Emumovies do we need to setup our passwords and username for it to work somewhere within GameEx to access Emumovies or is Emumovies now free for all thru GameEx?

Here's what I have to report with 12.75 so far:

1 - Control images. Image files that you set up to show just after you launch a game. They are stretched to fullscreen, and this is no good since you'll get a distorted shape, unless the image file does fit the screen size. If I manually select the file from the emulator menu, the aspect ratio is preserved, so this happens only when I launch a game... This didn't happen with 12.70.

2 - Some problems with Project64. With the new version, the command line that worked before didn't work anymore. As I guessed, the problem was the space in the directory.

Before:

F:\EMULATORS\NINTENDO 64

Now I set it as:

F:\EMULATORS\NINTENDO64

And it works. So this can be considered as resolved, although I have to report that previous versions of GameEx were able to manage the spaces. So far so good. I can live without that space.

I would have other questions but I'll wait to check the software more before I post dumb questions or pseudo-bugs.

Basically, this transition to a new format databases were not without difficulties, but now the program is stable (for me, at least). Thank you Tom once again for your care and effort! Thumbs up!

No spaces in the directory is a problem indeed... Can anyone confirm this? I make it a habit to avoid spaces when setting up directories, but it could prove to be a big deal if its true.

Before this particular emulator didn't like quotes. Maybe it works now with them? I can't test since I don't have the current version of this emulator. If it works now then that would explain the spaces in a folder. Spaces in folders are fine as long as you embed the path in quotes from the command-line which this emulator didn't do before. Would need confirmation with this particular version.

Wait!?! Do you mean the new version of GameEx or Project64?

just one thing I noticed when I got home from work and fired up GameEx 12.75 it take like almost 20 secs to bring the main screen up. Will give it more test later as I just got home.

It may be part of the updates taking place in the backend or initiating. If that is the case, would be cool to have some control over them (such as the EmuMovies updates for example). It is very distracting to see the updates constantly and while I think is is a great idea, user control is a must.

I must say I am not a fan of that myself. If I want to d/l something from emumovies then I would rather have control of what it's downloading then have gameex select it for me.

And you have my agreement, Krak. Every time I launch GamEx I got a "Downloading MAMEArtwork" message... and I have no idea of what it is!

Just to clear a few things up. GameEx will only attempt to download for a system once and it will cache anything thats not found. Once its done that will be it.

There is no logner delay than there was before. Basically GameEx just loads all emulators on startup instead of when they are accessed if it detects you have an emumovies account. Also the first time you launch GameEx it converts the databases. It will only do this once.

So its really a percetption thing that you have issue with.

I am not aware of anything that has changed that would do this. I just checked too and I can't see anything. The setup wizrd has been updated with the release. Although Ben did not mention he had changed any ini reading or writing. What does runitgame.bat look like?

EDIT: I just did a quick test with spaces in a path and don't see any issues.

EDIT 2: Did some more testing. Don't know what spaces in directories is about. I do know with project 64 you alsways had to send the path not in quotes for it to work.

Thanks for the clarification, Tom. I guess the concern that I have (and possibly a few others) is not being able to control the update of image process. If a user has a naming schema that is different that what is used by EmuMovies, the update is unneccessary for that user, is going to take up storage space with the placement of the new files that were "perceived" as missing, and create additional cleanup by the user.

My guess is that if they remove the updated files, GameEx will then look for those files again and re-download them. A global Enable/Disable Media Updates option would be great, a by Emulator Enable/Disable Media Updates would be ideal.

Thats a valid point. Ill add a global option.

Thanks! Oh, I know that Adultery probably reported this as well - I got my weather back! Thanks!
