Hello! :)

Ummm....I hate to break the news to ya this early in the a.m. Tom (well, here its am lol), but I just downloaded 12.73 and tested it on my cab, and its doing the same thing as 12.71 did - crashes when loading.

Thanks for all the help so far :) I'll attach the log and config files in case ya need it.

Lol, its cool man....You are working hard on this issue, and I have all the patience in the world - plus v12.70 to keep my cab up in the meantime :)

I downloaded the file you attached and reinstalled 12.73, but it still has the same issue as it did before with crashing. If it's a different issue, please put whatever's going on in my cab with 12.73 on the back burner to take care of the larger picture of what's going on :). I can still live with using 12.70 for however long it takes, and I know that when the new version will be ready to work on my cab, it will be better than ever! :)

Thanks again, and you da man Tom! :)

Hi, no problem. I want fix it if you don't mind helping. Are you sure that exe did not fix it? Dont install over the top of it as it will replace it. If that fixes it I will releas a new version.

Lol, well since ya offered ;) -

This is how I installed:

I first uninstalled 12.70, without deleting any of the remaining files in H:\GameEx, and redownloaded 12.73 from the website. I then installed the 12.73 version and before launching the application, I replaced gameex.exe file with the gameex.exe file that you attached earlier. I then ran GameEx via the new gameex.exe file.

I'm attaching the log and config files that was created in case you need them :)

Lol, if you lived close to Mississippi, I would share a beer with ya for all your hard work - since ya probably live further away though, I will upgrade my membership to a lifetime membership to GameEx when I get my next paycheck - you can buy yourself a few ice cold ones with that money lol :)

Thanks in advance! :)

Hello! :)

I've tried with the new file you attached, and also disabled "Play jukebox on startup", and it's still doing the same - crashing on loading.

Here is the new log and config file in case you need it.

Thanks again for all the help! Lol, I have faith that we'll get this to work somehow :)

More problems... This time it came after pressing a key to exit attract mode:

I ignored the error and it worked fine (although it crashed MAME).

Then I exited and reloaded GameEx, and it took me 4 tries to get it to actually start. Then it took about 4 mins to get past the loading screen.

I hope this can be fixed quickly... My cab's really kind of unplayable in its current state.

I think it should be fixed for you in the current release. I have a feeling the error above might be due to the plugin.

Sorry to interrupt... the offline installer seems to have fixed my error so far. Thanks Tom, as always. :)

Is there something I'll need to change in my plugin to keep it working, or was it something on your end that crashed out?

Sorry, not really sure to be honest. Might have just been a temporary display issue.

Here is another one. When you say crash do you just mean freeze or do you get an error?

Cool! Thanks Tom! :) I just made it to work, but when I get home, I will test it out and see how it goes.

What I mean by "crash", basically what it does is after I click the GameEx.exe, it will look like it's trying to load (the screen will go black, and the GameEx Home screen will be kinda faint)...while the animation for GameEx starts, the whole screen will then go black again, and the Windows Error window will pop up saying that the program will be shut down (in other terms lol). After hitting cancel a couple of times, it will return to "a portion" of the desktop...and to better explain "a portion", it shows the toolbar, but all the icons on the desktop are hidden - which I think its the "hide OS" still runs or something...

Anyway, lol, I hope that how I explained it (even in a not so clear way) helps some. I'm looking forward to all the awesome new features to the new version of GameEx! :)

Thanks in advance :)

It's still crashing for me Tom. Same as before.

Except now it always crashes, not just once in a while. I cant even load it.

I used your debug version and here's the log.

Same for me. Just tried the 12.73 with the last executable provided.

EDIT: with "crash" I mean that it ends abruptely, no error widnow.

Cleaning the cache? I emptied the whole GameEx directory just to be sure to have a clean installaton...

Posted

No joy Drac. Instant crash. Can't get it to load past the first second or two of the startup animation,

Posted

Worth the asking. I had a long, delayed start after the install. Not everyone is experiencing issues the same way and clearing cached files is one of our common troubleshooting steps.

Posted

Thanks Tom! I'll try it out when I get back home later tonight :) ...Just to make things a little clear, would I have to disable the login information to Emumovies in the Setup Wizard before running GameEx (for at least the first time)?

@Draco - when you say something about clearing the cache, are you talking about deleting the remaining files after uninstalling GameEx?

Thanks again for all your hard work and efforts! :)
