I am looking to change the control panel picture that show the buttons to use before entering the game to match my custom control panel. I have been looking but I cannot seem to find the answer? Any ideas to point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

A little more information may be in order. If you’re talking about MAME, well then congratulations headkaze has you covered with CPWizard (GameEx supports CPWizard). If you’re talking about other emulators . . . well you may have some work ahead of you.

On your emulator configuration screens, you’ll notice a directory entry for ‘Controls'. You can leverage this directory path in one of two ways. You can point it at a single CP image file which defines generic controls for the entire emulated system, or you can point it at an entire directory containing several game specific CP images (the name of the image must match the name of the associated ROM).

CPWizard will generate the image(s) for you, whereas for other emulators you must create your own images.

Thanks.

Is there a way to customize it for say like a X-arcade tank stick or custom layout? I guess my question is how does GameEx know where to put the fire button text on the correct button?

So I will be using CPwizard on my new cab. But I have another PC I use at work that just uses a X-arcade tank stick. I would like it to match the look of the tank stick control panel. I think most games are just using the generic key mappings but there are some that are custom like astriods. It was never meant to be played as a stick game if you know what I mean.

Duh i get it now, okay sorry I was confusing CPwizard and Keywiz. I need to do a little more research.

I have some images of the X-arcade Tankstick that I will be glad to share after I do a little cleanup.
