Draco1962 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 If it can import into adobe illustrator I can.I've never used svg files before, but they seem to be a form of vector image. They are and the format is used with XML. I have found many either by searching Wikipedia for the company or just "googling" company name + svg to see what shakes out. They sometimes require a little cleanup to remove background colors but are an excellent source when .ai or .eps formats are not easily found. Quote

naborneo Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Truly nice work. I may have to go back and use these on my theme. As far as requests, will you do one for the Commodore 64? I have attached an EPS for the C64 (I had to rar it since the forum doesn't allow eps uploads). Im not sure if it is the type of file you need. I simply put the logo I used in png format and saved it as en eps in photoshop. Let me know if you can use it or if I need to try another method. Here ya go djour:It's been updated to the dropbox for download. Quote
djour Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 That is a sweet looking logo. Thanks for the speedy reply and post. Now all we need is a good Daphne logo. Unfortunately, I have yet to find even a basic one that i truly like. I will start working on one in Illustrator next week and post it here so you can do your 3D magic. Quote
naborneo Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Alright, done for the day, got about half way threw with all of them. A lot of hand crafted ones today that I thought turned out the best. Check out Atomiswave, C64, and Golden Era. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1qbnbl1yot90ijc/A0juppl2qd#/Thanks for all the support guys. Quote
KRC Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Good work, I might use these as part of my backdrops on my new theme, is it possible to make the dreamcast image have a blue swirl instead of the orange one? Quote
naborneo Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 Here's a very early ALPHA of the THEME to go with the new Logos.I don't know where I'm going with this yet, but should look good. Also if you haven't taken a look at the updated 3D logos, they are pretty close to being done.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1qbnbl1yot90ijc/A0juppl2qd Quote

Draco1962 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 All looks great that I see so far. Wish I had the time and the money to get that program! Here are some Daphne pics if that helps you any. Quote
naborneo Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 All looks great that I see so far. Wish I had the time and the money to get that program!Cinema 4D is a great 3D program to learn and has much less of a learning curve then 3Ds Max or Maya. Maxon give free 42 day trials I believe on there site. Also greyscalegorilla.com is a great place to learn. But also I facilitate a local group and we post all our meetings and tutorials online, you can check them out at www.chicagoc4d.com and www.youtube.com/user/ChicagoC4D/featuredThanks for the feedback. u-man Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 like the look very much... but for the smaller subtitles, i would not extrude them so much... more convenient for reading . nice job done here.how about making "real" 3D objects of them? they could be used like the 3D-cabinets.... mmh.. like that idea more and more .Tom should make a 3rd "image" for 3D objects in the themes-editor.... oh that would be sooooo nice . AlphaUMi Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 3D cabinets are made using http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/index.htmlI'm not sure, though, if GameEx can read logos in that format... Brobably it's limited to "standard" image extensions... Quote
Draco1962 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Alpha is correct. You can read more about some of the requirements within GameEx here for 3D Model Support. Quote
AlphaUMi Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 It sounds like naborneo should submit a feature request... it will be a great enhancement for GameEx!. Quote
naborneo Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 I actually looked into it a little more and I'm just not a fan of it. What I put in the most work for these was lighting and procedural textures. directX looks for jpeg texture, and seems to destroy my lighting (very plain/even lighting) Maybe theres more I can do with it, I don't know, but I'd rather just export movies or tiff sequences, then I can control the look to exactly how I want it. But this would be a cool Idea if it could be done correctly. Quote
AlphaUMi Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Follow your own path, naborneo! But maybe you can consider the option of releasing your work as video files (avi or mp4). GameEx can already read them. Quote
Draco1962 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 It sounds like naborneo should submit a feature request... it will be a great enhancement for GameEx!.No need for a feature request as GameEx already supports .x file format from the compiled Google Sketchup images and has for a while. The suggestion of .avi or .mp4 videos sounds good and GameEx already looks for those formats first to display before looking for static snaps. Static or moving, I am humbled - these look great! Quote

I remember to have red somewhere that logos must be in bmp or jpg... Quote

u-man Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 logos SHOULD be bmp or jpg IF you want them to use by the setup-wizard or the theme-editor. this option does not support 3D files.BUT if you use the logos like a 3D cabinet, you can use them off course, thats why i was bagging for a 3rd "image" in the theme-editor (and for my own theme-creating ).sad to hear from naborneo that he is not satisfied with the look. it seems that i want to have a further look in to the "light"-story thing. would you maybe submit your 3D files....please, with sugar on it (i would like to give it another try).this could really look great.... i am on it Quote
Draco1962 Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 If I understand you correctly, you mean you can see them in theme editor if they are a static image type (.jpg .bmp. .png). Google Sketchup is good for modeling, but it is not a refined rendering as he is getting with the program he is using at present. Quote

These are items that a friend sells online, so I can't just be handing them out. But I can do some recreation with the standard Cinema 4D lights and textures.98% of the models are re creations of trademarked designes anyway, so I have no issue passing those out. Quote
u-man Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 If I understand you correctly, you mean you can see them in theme editor if they are a static image type (.jpg .bmp. .png).exactly... maybe i am wrong but the problem with 3D logos would be the thing, how they can showup in gameex? the 3D-cabinets show up only when a MAME-game is selected and a 3D-cabinet (for that game) exists in your predefined folder for 3d-cabinets.so if you want to show up the logos, you would need to technicaly change their names in to a MAME-game-name.i didnt try this, but i think the 3D-stuff works only in this way.thats why i think a 3rd "image" in theme-editor would be nice, just for 3D stuffGoogle Sketchup is good for modeling, but it is not a refined rendering as he is getting with the program he is using at present.off course is cinema 4D superior in terms of rendering, so you can create nicer images, but the 3D engine in game-ex is realtime, it would be possible to do nice fx, like pumping emulator logos in e.g.i dont know if you can save something like "light"-situations within your 3D-object or do you control the light over the 3D-engine used in game-ex?if it is controled by engine, then only Tom can change the lntense of the light e.g.as i said, i dont know how exactly this thing work, i cannot test it at the moment, but i will soon.but the idea is really cool...
