Booting straight to GameEx

So I am new to this, and it may be extremely simple. I would like to boot straight into GameEx, without booting into explorer.exe. The pc I am using for my recently built Mame cabinet is not the most powerful so I am trying to save as much resources as I can strictly for running GameEx and emulators. Any words of advice from someone who already has their setup running smoothly? Be specific with your resonse please, and I'll try to keep up.

I am sure you can probably do so, but if you are not very PC savvy and don't know how to intimately use command lines, I would not recommend it. It is what gives you your task bar and other GUI goodies. Not knowing what OS you are currently using, I cannot make clear recommendations, but you may want to explore your performance settings and make sure that all visual extras are turned off in your Performance Tools section of Control Panel (In Win 7). With one click you can have it set for best performance turning off many of the visual features.

Another thing to consider is disabling unused services and various applications that start up with Windows. You can disable print spooling service if no printer connected, for example. Black Viper has recommended tweaks and lists of services you can safely disable to speed up your Windows.
