Installer - Runtime error

Hello, I get when installing GameEx in Windows Vista, the following error message: runtime error, can not open file: ... toolbar.bmp. Can anyone help with. Thank you.

Can you verify that you have the recommended .net installations and DirectX versions installed for your Vista installation? You may need to refer the Minimum Requirements.

I installed GameEx on Vista yesterday and did not have this problem. Did you get the install from gameex.com. Maybe it got corrupted? toolbar.bmp is part of the install package. Its a bitmap that shows during setup when it asks if you want to install the spesoft toolbar. Ive not heard of this issue before.

I would not bother with Vista as an operating system. You will find other items you want to install later on may run into difficulties emulators etc

Treat yourself to a downgrade of XP rather than7 .

I have just built a shuttle pc from scratch and have literally installed just the following with mame and romsets and works fine......

Installed all from CD or a distributable, none over the web....

So long as the site you are linking to is not a ROM sharing or warez site you should be fine.
