Hi nearly got it all working and ready to buy license....

I have a shuttle pc with a ati9200 card in it.

I plan to move this to my arcade machine using a j-pac with my 15K monitor.

I had no luck with soft 15K but catalyst 6.5 worked a treat and gameex forces the resolution I need.

While I am testing on my lcd tv in games like andro dunos I could see almost an invisble line scrolling vertically which was an annoyance. Its not on my original cart I currently have in my cabinet.

I have managed to get rid of this by turning on Vsynch

I still get a very slight juddering issue on the bottom graphics (rocks in this game).

In some forums they suggest to getthe old school feel set the mame ini to this.

in the mame.ini... (c:\\mame\mame.ini)

if this file does not exist- make one! (start>run>(type) "MAME -CREATECONFIG" >now go to mame folder and open the .ini with notepad, edit as follows..

# VIDEO OPTIONS

#

video ddraw

numscreens 1

window 0

maximize 1

keepaspect 1

prescale 1

effect none

pause_brightness 0.65

waitvsync 0

syncrefresh 0

Also for the juddering I have used MAMEUI (instead of mame32) still launching via gameex and does make it slightly better, details of why are in this forum...

In mameui I have also loaded it manually and edited some setting e.g refresh speed and turned vysnch on.

Anyway a lot of talking for a simple question.

If say I want to set vsynch and refresh speed. Should

I edit the mame.ini e.g set vysnch to 1.

Load up mameui and set my settings there then exit.

Configure Gameex to do these, it seems to support mameui

Not sure what is best route as dont want one overiding the other.

It might be when I move the thing to the arcade cabinet and take vsynch off it may be ok any way.

at moment does not look as smooth as my original cart.

I recommend that you get it setup to run as perfectly as is possible via MAME first. MAME32 is the old name for what is now MAMEUI so all you are doing is using a newer version of the same program.

MAMEUI, formerly MAME32, is the GUI version of MAME. Originally authored in 1997 by Chris Kirmse, it was the first port of MAME™ to the Windows platform...

You may want to provide us a copy of your GameEx.ini file. Instructions on "How to ask for help" can be found in a link in my signature.

Yes its is confusing as there are so many flavours there is a Mameuifx as well that is supposed to be better at stopping juddering.

Thanks for pointing me in right direction for asking for help. I need one more bit of help. Unfortunately just moved the pc into my arcade cabinet and having problems. Its hard to read screen in vga mode to get the errors of at the moment. I'll raise one more ticket as may be an easy fix for someone ?
