hi tom.. the crashes are not stopped.. i can't use GameEx.. all few minutes crashs GameEx on scrolling in the mame gamelist.. i think it crashes on video-snap load.. always showing the same error.. error in net. framework 2 mscorwks.dll. In windows 7 x64 are these dll intergrated in the system. i can't reinstall them. i have all driver reinstalled, i have reinstalled the shark video codecs.. nothing helps.. :(

what can i do?

Posted

Please provide a copy of your log.txt file immediately following one of the crashes. Thanks!

What happens if you do not use the videosnaps... EG change the path.. Does it still crash?

a other path or other video format won't help.. i try to turn off video snaps

i delete the video snap path and now gameex works well without crash.. the video load is corrupt.. but why?! is it a bug?

You stated that you reinstalled the Shark007 video codecs. For Windows 7 X64 you have to install the Windows x86 codec pack first and the Windows x64 codec pack second. If you uninstalled, you have to uninstal the x64 codec pack first, and the x86 codec pack last. If you did not reinstall or install in that order, please uninstall following the uninstall order and install in the install order.

i uninstalled all.. gameex, codecs.. cleaning the registry.. restart the pc.. installed all components new in the right order.. re-configurated the gameex.. and.. the crash are the same.. :-/

I think we will need to look at a new post-crash log.txt file and copy of the gameex.ini file since you reinstalled everything. Likely this is not a GameEx issue. I am leaning more towards a program installation or something that may have corrupted the file mscorwks.dll or a registry entry. I know it was back in January that you reported this, but are you able to perform a "roll-back" to a prior time on your system when the error was not present? If not, you may have to look at running a repair installation on your Win 7 machine to correct for any registry issues. Before doing that, you should be able to determine if a registry error is causing this by running sfc /scannow from a command prompt (be sure to "run as administrator"). This will generate a log file for you to review. It may be quite large.

it is a gameex bug.. i found an old gameex setup 11.86.. here works gameex with videosnaps very well.,,. without crash on video load!

log.txt

perhaps.. is it possible that the the codec graph builder is damaged? build gameex for every video the graph new?

Can we see a copy of your gameex.ini file as well, please?

Something is amiss that much is certain. While an older version may work fine for you, it isn't conclusive enough to indicate that the current version has a bug that is creating the problem you are having. There is something that is being called within your system more specifically. If this was a broad issue with GameEx proper, I would expect there to be many more reports which is not the case. Knowing more by starting with a copy of your gameex.ini will help. Anything else you can tell us regarding software/hardware changes recently prior to the latest version might be of help.

Also, by running the command line as I asked may also give us some information regarding the health of your .net framework environment.

the ini is the same as for 12.56. i have nothing change..

GameEx.ini

sfc doesn't found a error.. system is 100% okay.. windows7 x64 all updates are installed, all drivers are up to date..

i have 2 ati video cards.. one for 15khz arcade mode and the other for a lcd screen with touchscreen.. device 0 and device 1.. gameex and the extender has problems with this.. run on second monitor won't work.. Tom can look whether is device 0 is used for gameex or the extender.. the arcade monitor (15 khz) is the main windows screen and the lcd is the extended windows screen. but the gameex extender runs only on this monitor when i say "run on 2nd monitor"= no.. but this bug is also present in 11.86..

Thanks for the additional information. Based upon the varying screen resolutions shown in the gameex.ini I would hazard a guess that there is a problem in how the videos are being rendered. Not quite my area of expertise so will mark this to Tom's attention.

Im not sure if I mentioned it before but in my experience this type of crash is always related to video codecs. This is about the only thing that is external to GameEx and will cause an external crash and not a usual controlled GameEx one with the log. Its either a codec issue or a bad video file I expect. There is not much I can do within GameEx to resolve this.

i have all codecs reinstalled.. i dont think that is the reason.. 11.86 works.. newer releases crashs.. the log file isn't helpful.. not all actions are reported in the file.. have you change to code to create the video render or video graph?

Zoomplayer plays the videos without any error or crash. And Windows Explorer created nice thumnails without crashs or error.. the videos are okay.. only gameex crash at play video snaps in flv or avi.. after the 5 or 6 Video snap crash gameex on mainscreen with video snap or in the mame gamelist..

i've created a folder with only 4 video snaps. All 4 videos are playing after repeating the 1 video gameex crashed. look at the youtube video. the codecs are okay then all videos was showing

To be completely honest with you I am not going to be able to fix this problem for you on your current setup/install/pc.

And now? Payback the livetime licence?

at last i try a new install of windows 7..

Flocke - there is apparently something special about your setup that is creating this rendering problem with the most recent releases. Tom's response to you was not a flippant retort but more of a head-scratching response to really needing more information than you have provided thus far.

I ask that you exercise some patience with us and Tom and we attempt to help you find a resolution. If this were a major bug, then most or all of us should be encountering it, which we are not.

Even if you do not see something in the log.txt file that is meaningful to you after the program crashes, please submit the log when we ask. You may also want to submit your latest gameex.ini file as well

Make note of the date/time the crash occurs and see if you can locate under Event Viewer any log files generated there as well. As always, please translate as much as you can of these in English.

A full accounting of your software (OS, video, graphics card(s) and driver versions, DIrectX version, codecs installed) may be helpful. Before installing additional video players, test GameEx. Some will install their own codec files which may overwrite the
