fRequEnCy
Is the TVDB data retrieval like a XBMC scraper? It's grabs metadata by using an API. So I guess it's like an XBMC scraper for it's for GameEx.
Tom Speirs
Is the TVDB data retrieval like a XBMC scraper?Yeah basically, but technically its an api and not a scrape. ie its legit.

Krakerman
Just curious Tom if these background images can have foreground images as well with them at all?
Tom Speirs
Just curious Tom if these background images can have foreground images as well with them at all?The idea is just to show additional artwork as other HTPC software does so no. Krakerman
Ok I was thinking this might be a way to skin each emulator and mame game if we were able to create foreground images as well. Guess I'll save it for a request then. Thanks!

Koop
Just tried to install the lastest update. I installed an update just the other day. I think it was 12.45 because that's what I'm running now, so I'm guessing the update I just tried to install was 12.48. The install started but then crashed saying "GameEx has encountered an error and needs to close." Now every time I start GameEx it just gives me that error. I restarted the computer and I got GameEx to open once. Then when I exited and reopened it, it just crashes every time. The log file only shows the last time it ran successfully with 12.45, but I can post if you think it could be useful. What can I do? If I download the latest version from the website and just re-install over my current installation will that fix it? I don't want to lose my configurations, I haven't backed those up yet, still working towards that. Thanks.
Draco1962
You can run the install from download and your current settings will be retained. Of course, if you want to play it safe, you can back up your gameex directory.
Adultery
I had an issue where the installer crashed, but I DL'd the Offline Installer and all was well. Just putting that out there.
Koop
I backed up the CONFIG folder and tried reinstalling from the website file. During installation it now says "An error occured while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied." I am running from an admin account, not sure why access is denied. If I uninstall GameEx does it delete my config files? Is there any other folder/file I should backup before reinstalling? Sorry, I was planning on researching this myself, but now I'm in a bind and need to do this right.
Koop
Ok, I actually got the install to finish now. I had an epiphany after my last post. It was having trouble writing to GameEx.exe so I checked my running processes and sure enough, GameEx was still running even though it had just failed to launch earlier. So once I killed that process and clicked "retry" on the installation process it started working. GameEx is updated now. Thanks for the help. Tom Speirs
Hi Tom... I can't find the other exe.. Can you help me?I updated the main install. So you can just do a manual download and install of GameEx from the site. Let me know if it fixes the issues. Please reboot your machine before installing.
