Ever since updating to version 12.44 gameex doesn't remember my view settings like it used

too. This is very frustrating to have to have to change the view settings every time I start..

Especially when I prefer to have the change view settings off so my friends can't acciedentally

change it.. but now it's not them who are changing it.. but gameex itself

I like the new layout stuff.. but I don't like being forced to start with it everytime..

Any solutions?

Additionally I should add. Gameex remembers after I've made the changes.. while I'm in Gameex

But as soon as I exit.. It's like it resets.. and the default becomes the new view settings that

I guess you recently added.. you know the sort of horizontal lists.. I prefer the vertical..

but it always starts up with the horizontal lists.

No it is every page that is forced into the new horizontal lists.. even my emulators and games lists..

I can change it back.. but should I exit.. it's back to horizontal lists again

So far as I am aware theme.ini should not have an impact such as wheat he is experiencing. It would be good tp know how and where GameEx is installed on his machine and there are no rights restrictions interfering with updates to the gameex.ini.

@Draco:

Can't you specify this in the theme.ini?

[GENERAL]

displayimagelist=True

My theme hasn't changed since before or after I made the update.. I haven't messed with the .ini for the theme..

so why would this be theme related?.. when this only started happening immediately after the update

gameex is installed directly in my C: drive.. how would I know if there are rights restrictions? I have updated gameex successfully several times before.. so why would this all of a sudden be the case?

It looks like you have "Change View" disabled. So I am not sure how you could change the view anyway? You need to enable Change View to change the current view display mode.

I know.. I tried to see if I changed my view settings.. exit gameex.. and disabled and returned

to gameex if it would then save my settings... it didn't.. I'm completely aware of how the change view

works.. and I had it on before when I was having this problem.. and the problem still persisted. I actually

was the one who put in the feature request to have the option to disable or enable the change view option

so I'm completely aware of how it functions within gamex.. but this doesn't change the fact gameex doesn't

save my view setting.. regardless of whether change view option is displayed or not

I appreciate the help thus far though

The problem persists so there must be another issue..

as stated above I had the change view on when

this problem started.. Is there somewhere in the gameex.ini

that is responsible for the actual remembering of your last view settings..

To recap: I updated gameex.. when I started it I saw that my view settings were different

from how they were before the update.. I then switched on the show change view settings

in setup wizard.. I changed everything back to the way it used to be.. I exited gameex..

and when I returned.. It did not remember my view settings.. I then thought if I changed

my view settings, exited gameex.. turned change view off.. that this might some how lock

the settings I wanted.. this however didn't work.. which explains why change view was

disabled when the ini was sent to you..

A few questions for you"

1.) Any reason why you would have some of your paths going to C:\Documents and Settings\Jacques\Desktop\ ? Not sure if this is necessarily related, but could eb a cause for some issues as this path is a protected path for the specific Windows logon.

2.) Go to the \gameex\data folder and delete all files with cache in the file name.

3.) Do you have touchscreen support enabled and, if yes, are you using a touchscreen? If touchscreen support is enabled but you have no touchscreen installed, disable it and see if the issue is resolved.

After disabling touch screen support which I don't have.. It seems that it's only the first page that's wrong..

my emulators are fine now.. and my other menus.. but the very first menu with it starts.. it's the

horizontal menus.. I want it to start to my vertical home menu.. if I go to a emulator menu and press the back

button.. it returns to my home settings the way I like.. but it doesn't start that way..

Thanks a lot that's a step in the right direction!

OK so try and hit the "Change View" button on the offending page and exit GameEx when it's correct. If it still doesn't work, post your GameEx ini again please.
