I am in the process of getting gameex all set up again so I can make some system specific videos for demonstration purposes. Do you guys think I should stick with the default skin or mix it up a bit? If I am to use multiple skins/themes any requests or suggestions on which ones I should use?

Well you can definitely take a look at the 2011 Theme Competition thread for some exemplary work. I'm going to forget someone obvious (hopefully others will chime in here too), but here are some other noteworthy themes not included in the contest that stick out in my mind

Adultery's MegaMAME Theme is a beauty.

Draco1962 is like a theme machine and his work is always very high quality

In the WIP department I'm really looking forward to the ConfluenceEx theme being built by Chazz and the MetroEx theme being built by vsilvalopes. And as far as I know Draco1962 is still working on his ode to 1970's prog rock.

I guess the answer to including multiple theme presentations in your GameEx demo will depend on your general strategy for these demo movies. If you're also including theme showcases for other front ends, then you should definitely include some good GameEx themes as well. If you're displaying other front ends using only their default themes it might be confusing to show a multitude of themes for GameEx. It also might indicate favoritism for GameEx if you only do this for GameEx. I mean we know that GameEx is your favorite, but one must maintain the appearance of objectivity right? :D My 2 cents of course. ;)

I like all the themes that nullpointer was saying but my all time favorite is Draco's Space Invaders theme. Looks so slick with my cab color scheme and with my sexy new ASUS monitor.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll post some of the vids here as soon as I get this up and running.

I'm going to take just a moment to give some sad commentary on my situation here. I am setting this up from scratch, I have been so busy working on the website this past year that I dont have a single front end set up on any of my computers. The nice thing is I have decided to use the download service to set up GameEx and that will be my first time using that beyond some testing that I initially did on it. All this work and I am the last to enjoy it...such is life :) But when I am done GameEx will have a home on my media center PC.

To clarify, these "demos" will be per system and will ultimately end up in the download section over at emumovies for use in the descriptions. I am going to use fraps or hypercam to record (whichever gives me the best frame-rate). If anyone "Adultery" ;) feels like submitting any for me to use just post the youtube link on this thread and I will pepper them around where needed. Doesn't hurt to ask :)

I know I speak for a lot of us here when I express my extreme gratitude for the work you put in over at EmuMovies. Please consider yourself one of the giants of our hobby, working behind the scenes to insure a certain 'wow' factor. I was waxing about this very topic the other day when I read this thread. There aren't a lot of 'celebrities' in our hobby. There are so many people working behind the scenes on neat little projects that a lot of us rely on, but never really get truly recognized for their contributions. They do it out of passion and dedication. That's awesome.

So yeah, enough sucking up :D Looking forward to seeing those demos! Enjoy the tools you helped to create! I know I do.

What did you need me to do Circo? Just general GameEx in action stuff?

I'm kinda slow so I'm not sure I follow you on what you're doing exactly. :)

Wait I think I get it. :)

You're doing new system intro bids for front ends and you want to show off what GameEx can do and show what it can look like should you decide its right for you? Like FE demos like the ones on your home page?

I think its cool you're doing an install from scratch. Sometimes I forget about those who start from ground zero and you can let us know how it went for ya... Tips along the way, things that need work/attention, etc. :)

I feel to quote every single word you said, nullPointer, even the commas. And I will become a fully supporting member of Emumovies next year (in January I think), as soon as I'll get that money...

I haven't got very far, kept getting distracted today. I am going to put these youtube vids in the corresponding video section, aka snes video snaps would be a video of games on the snes system, scrolling down the game list pausing on a few games to see the video snaps in action and maybe even going into the the artwork and stuff to show how it all looks in gameex.

I have set up gameex and used it exclusively for years, my first thought/gripe (i'm joking) is how slick all of ben;s setup menus were, but I am oldschool gameex, so I was like what is this where is my setup menu I am used to that looks like dos?? :) Now its like all the work is done for me. Great job btw, its shocking at how professional and solid GameEx has become.
