[RESOLVED] What did I do?

I upgraded to the latest version released yesterday or the day before, and now I'm stuck in views that resemble the following:

There is no "change view" and I really really hate this view. So I was wondering:

a) how did I get into it in the first place

How do I get rid of it

OK, i found the change view by scrolling to the right. Boy I hate that view.

Don't know how it flipped over to that. But, I guess, this is resolved.

What do folks think? Should that view not be default? Seems we have a few folks that do not like it.

I temporarily got stuck in that view the other day and struggled to get out of it. I didn't like it and found it a bit confusing. I don't think its the best option for a default view.

Just an opinion here...

If I was running Game Ex on my htpc I would look at the default view, on a cab I wouldn't.

But then it could be that we have got used to the original UI.

The thumbnail views are good for favourites/photos, I know this may be in the wrong place, but could there be a setting on which views you would like enabled/disabled in the setup wizard? That would be kinda cool.

I had the same issue.

I do like the new Gui but I cant use it for my setup (the original one is more practical for me).

I would love to see a custom theme done with that new gui though

Sorry Tom, for my cab I personally prefer the original view. If I were running an HTPC, this view would be great.

It just looks a little less cabbish to me, no offense.

I personally am running GameEx on a HTPC and I don't like the view myself as well. Maybe the default view mode should be put into the setup wizard so it would be easier to find and change.

I have put in a few enhancement requests directly relating. I feel that the default view should be the vanilla list view everyone is familiar with and what 100% of the themes available currently support. I like the new "ribbon" view for HTPC and I am currently working on a theme to support it.

That being said, I think that there needs to be controls within the Theme Editor that allow theme authors to select the view(s) that they intend for the function and design of their theme or else there will be considerable end-user confusion and angst created that could be avoided from the outset. I am not certain how or if something like this can be implemented, but to be able to select the view per emulator, MAME, Daphne, etc. would be required. This will also need to play well with Custom Menus.
