Hi

Another odd problem.

I have a NAS which has all my video files.

When I navigate to the network folder as either a mapped drive or UNC path I can only see folders not the video files themselves.

When I do the same on local folders I can see and play the videos.

I am running Windows XP SP3.

Many thanks

Hi

No, the network drive is accessed from several different PCs and Laptops and a video streamer (Xtreamer) device without any problems.

As well as the Arcade Machine PC!

Many thanks

I have disabled a lot of services to make the arcade PC be more streamline.

Is GameEx .Net implementation dependant on any specific services to show network files? - please note that network folders are displayed.

Also using the same PC, the files are displayed and play without problem through explorer.

Many thanks

Are you using a mapped drive eg. G:\ or a UNC path eg. \\server\share ?

I am not aware of any problems like this in gnerenal. There used do mb issues like this before GameEx moved to .net framework service pack 1 from 0 though. Does the network location require credentials or is it set to guest access?

PS: I would also ensure you have the latest supported .net version for GameEx which I believe is 3.5. I know in one of the newer versions network access issues like this were improved. Such as being able to start GameEx from a network location.

Just some more info.

I added another shared folder to the network using the NAS feature on my media player (Xtreamer).

GameEx had no problem in accessing the share and displayed both the folders and files. I was also able to watch the videos over the network.

Seems like some type of Samba compatibility issue with my NAS.

I have in the past had numerous problems with Samba compatibility between devices so this is not abnormal.

Unfortunately in the past I have never been able to resolve such Samba issues so I guess this will just be a problem I need to live with.

This is an arcade machine anyway so video streaming is only a nice gimmick.

Many thanks

I would have thought .net would just access the same as windows. It could be an issue with auhentication. If your able to turn authenticaion off it may work.

Obviously update firmware and all the usual stuff which I am sure your well on top of anyway.
