Hi all, I recently came across GameEx and am now using it as a frontend on my Win7 x64 HTPC for several emulators - it's so much easier to set up than XBMC! I've nearly got it set up exactly how I want it but I have a couple of questions regarding Visual Boy Advance and updating the MAME ROM list:

1. In VBA-M (SVN 1022), the Esc key is set to toggle between full screen and windowed modes which means that to exit a game, you have to press Esc first to change back to windowed mode and then Esc again to go back to GameEx when I would like VBA-M to stay in fullscreen mode and then exit seamlessly back to GameEx. Is there a way around this behaviour?

2. I've updated my MAME ROMs and GameEx is now asking me to update the list. I remember browsing some documentation or seeing a video somewhere which described a setting where you can tell GameEx not to scan the existing ROMs that it's already catalogued - I can't remember or find that setting for the life of me though! Can someone point me in the right direction?

The setting you mention regarding scanning the ROMs is likely something unrelated. Anytime you update your ROMS, you should update your list.

Welcome to the forums. Simply just change the key set for changing full screen and then GameEx will handle closing it correctly.

In VisualBoyAdvance-M, do the following:

  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Customize..
  • Scroll down to FileToggleFullscreen
  • Assign a new key other than ESCAPE
