Hello All,

Just installed Gameex this evening, and I must say its a fabulous product. I have some general questions/issues that I was hoping someone could help with to help me finalize my setup.

1) For some of my emus, I would like to run the ipac programmer utility before each emu starts to reprogram the ipac with that eumulators config. I would then like to rerun it again on exit of that emulator (and on startup of Gameex) to program it for Gameex/Mame usage. Is this possible?

2) Speaking of controls, I love the option in Gameex for Mame games to see the controls. I have two questions though, is it possible to create my own panel that looks more like my arcade panel to display (like you wouild with cpviewer?), and 2nd, can an item be added to menu for each emulator to display controls for that emulator? If not, could i Launch cpviewer before each emualtor loads?

3)Movie files arent working right for me. Everytime mameex tries to display a movie startup file or in the list of games, it switches back to the desktop, or turns the screen black. The vids are AVI format and play fine in windows. I have tried with windows set up for various codecs as well, none work. Any ideas whats happening here?

4) Is there a document that outlines all the options available for setting up additional emulators?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

That would be fantastic to change the controller pics to my set up. If that is not possible it should be ;) I will be keeping a eye on this thread

Why not use AutoHotkey instead? I just create a script for any game I need to remap controls. To give you an idea of how easy it is, just create a *.ahk script file and place, for example place "LAlt::v" in the file to map the left alt key to v. You can even compile the script file to an exe and run it before the emulator in GameEx. I use "taskkill /F /IM [scriptfile].exe" at the end to kill the compiled script. Of course if programming your ipac is as simple as that, the you can just run a batch file or whatever before and after launching an emulator in GameEx. GameEx has "Also Launch" and "Launch After" options for each emulator to run a program and kill it afterwards.

Not yet, the CP viewer is hard coded in GameEx. This has already been requested and probably on the list of todo's. It would be a quite easy to do this, I might even add this into the GameEx Theme Editor I'm writing.

Hmm strange, generally if it works in WMP it works in GameEx. Have you tried downloading ffdshow and installing? It adds alot of codecs. Other than that, not sure what it could be.

4) Is there a document that outlines all the options available for setting up additional emulators?

No, but there are default emulators setup in GameEx, also there is a pinned post with user configs, also just post here if you have a problem and we can probably help out.

Well,

I updated to the new version of Gameex today (Installed over my old version), also updated my video drivers for my GeForce 2 MX card, and installed the Net 1.1. framework SP1 and security update. Things are a bit better, when Gameex goes to launch the video, it goes back to the desktop. If I click the app in the toolbar, it switches back briefly, then jumps back to the desktop. If i do this enough times, I eventually see the Gameex screen again. The video displays, but its choppy, bad looking, and upside down???

Very strange. I may just have to skip videos, unless someone has any other ideas.

Hi,

In regard to Videos, it does generally work well for most people. You probably have a base case of DLL and Codec hell going on on yout machine. I am guessing the only way yourll get it working now, will be to do a fresh install of windows.

Thanks Tom - I literally just reimaged this PC when I made it into the PC for the cab. Luckily I have most of the data on the secondary drive, so I will give that some thought.
