This question will probably have a quick and definitive answer :)

I was wondering whether it is possible to display the weather icon in a V1 theme.

My favourite theme is "My Games for MCE - Widescreen" (screenshot attached).

I've spent a lot of time getting it all configured and was wondering whether the weather icon can be enabled.

The only way I was able to do it was by setting the theme version to 2, but that changes many other elements of the theme, I just want the weather icon in the V1 theme which is nice and uncluttered.

many thanks

I believe Tom said V1 and V2 themes are considered 'legacy' now, so they won't be made compatible with new features. Just a heads up... Probably wanna do it again as a V3 or V4. ;)

I have had no problems up-converting a theme from V1/2 to V4. Nothing nutzoid occured.

I have tried upgrading but it seems that an upgrade automatically enables new features and you cannot remove them.

For instance:

- Mame games list turns to thumbnails (I don't like this!)

- List numbers change from "x of y" format to "x | y" (I prefer the original format)

- When selecting an emulator, both the console and a video snap are displayed on the main screen

- Additional horizontal menu is added

I think the new themes are very nice but I prefer less on the screen, so the V1 theme is perfect for me but I do like the weather icon and that is all I wanted to add.

Perhaps I have not played with the theme editor enough, but my current understanding is that you cannot disable/hide components available in different theme versions, so upgrading V1 will add new components and you cannot disable them.

Many thanks

On the horizontal menu, click Change View until view is as you like it

A minor difference

- When selecting an emulator, both the console and a video snap are displayed on the main screen

When theme is loaded into the Theme Editor, you can suppress the displayed item by clicking on the visibility toggle (the "eye") and save theme.

It is possible to modify what options are enabled within the theme. I guess it is a matter of how bad you want certain features. I much prefer the V4 themes due to the added flexibility for the enabling of various features dependant upon what I am creating at the time.

Thanks for you help.

I don't think the eye icon does anything. I've been trying for ages and nothing I do seems to make any difference.

I saw another thread which suggested that you need to edit the ini file to place the item off the screen.

I also couldn't see the "change view" option but I will have another look.

The change view item is on the menu bar. Make the adjustment before you move it off the screen.
