Does Game Ex do MP4 video snaps? I used the downloader service and got them for my SNES but they don't display. Is There a setting I missed or something? :)

Search brought me here! So to answer your question, yes it is supported. As far as getting them to work will be down to your codec pack used in your system. Please give more info on your setup.

Hmmm They play fine using WMP or VLC. However what do I need to install for my Win7 ultimate 64 bit? Shark codec pack?

The Shark007 Vista Codec Pack and the 64-bit pack are what you will need. Works great on my x64 Win 7 setup.

Does the Vista Code Pack work on Windows 7? Cuz they do have a Windows 7 codec pack as well which is what I use. I don't see why they would have a Windows 7 codec pack if the Vista one works.

Codec conflict? Got more than one pack on your rig!

Usually recommended to uninstall ffdshow if previously installed prior to installing the Shark007 codec packs.

My good sloow a** only downloaded the 64 bit components. Further reading told me I needed the 32 bit version also. Duh. Anyway I got it and they work now thanx for the help :)

For the record, I had the exact same symptoms as DJ Infinity but on a Win 7 32-bit setup. The shark pack hadn't fixed it for me before, but seeing this thread made me try it again and play with the settings.

It boiled down to a setting on the H264 tab - the default is to "Use Microsoft codec," but as Tom pointed out, that doesn't support it well and results in these weird playback issues within GameEx. I chose "Use FFDshow's codec" instead and that fixed the problem.

Having fought with this problem since September, I had quite a facepalm moment when it turned out to be as simple as one radio button. =) I'm just thankful it's resolved!

From my experience those codecs are best avoided. I would not recommend them. Although things may have imrpoved. I know people used to use that pack before FFDSHOW came along. Although now it seems it uses FFDSHOW.

Why? I have had nothing but probs with Sharks and switched over to K-lite over a year ago and it works smooth as silk so not sure why anyone would avoid it Tom.

Maybe it comes down to preference I guess. I use the Mega K-lite Codec as it has the most features of course.

Things may have improved with it. I used to use it years ago when media center first came out and it included an illegal copy of DivX. Again things may have changed.

I have to admit I dont like the way Sharks' installs both the ask and bing toolbar without your permission now. I have not got a problem with it including ad software as I do it but its not legit if you can't opt out.

The installer works very nice and it uninstalls just as well if you choose to do so. I had issues with the uninstaller of sharks that screwed things up on my system which at that point was when I switched over and like I said I have never had an issue so try it out if anyone is having issues with the other codec packs.
