ZinC configuration

Hello I'm trying to setup Zinc with gameEx.

I start using zincgui to test and enable my games it works well.

But when I'm trying to enable zinc in gameEx nothings.

Use MAME for ZiNc roms. The emulator is not needed anymore.

Besides providing no real benefits, it's a PITA to set up. MAME ZN emulation is fully playable now.

Well that is the 64-bit mame build is better for zinc games,the 32-bit is still lagging.but yes,zinc is a PITA to setup!

Ok go for mame but what I do appreciat enabling zinc is that I get Playstation games choice in mame game list. Is it possible to get games splitted in platfom or whatever ?

By enabling ZiNc within GameEx just uses the ZiNc setup and configuration, and then adds the roms to the MAME list inside GameEx. As Adultery said, its not needed anymore as MAME will play ZN Playstation roms fine now. ZiNc integration isn't needed is what it basically boils down to.

May I ask what version of MAME Zinc roms are fully playable from? (32bit)

I believe anything build 0.143u3 or higher. I would recommend compiling to the latest u build.

Yea I would just update to 143u8.not sure that they will run full speed on 32 bit mame build.let me know if they do please!

I want to avoid updating as I compliled MAME myself to work with some specific features (was not a straight forward thing to do lol), I do have a recent version of MAME but I am not 100% what one it is.

When I get home ill check and test some Zinc ROMs and update.

O.k I am using MAME 0143b, I tested Dead or alive ++, battle arena toshinden 2 and fighing layer, it and it works 100% perfect.

Zinc has now been deleted from my system for good..

What are your system specs? I'm running an older AthlonXP 3200+ 32-bit processor. If you have something significantly more powerful, it would be nice to know since that will assuredly affect my systems 100% speed likelihood.

It was quite beefy in its time(6months ago lol), its my super mini ITX box. There is room for improovement i.e the CPU which can be upgraded to an i7

Yeah... I looked at AnandTech CPU comparison just now. They don't list my CPU anymore, so I used an AMD Athlon 2650e and compared it to a I3-540. Well, that makes my system look appropriately inadequate. I suspect that running Zinc will be my only option unless I decide to upgrade. But, since I've got other priorities, I guess that's not likely to happen any time in the foreseeable future. Oh well...
