I'm having some issues getting my selector - even a default generated one - centered on an item in my list. Any tips? Does font need to be a certain size or the list itself be some multiple of the font size, etc? I'm sure there's something going on in the background to determine how many items are in the list element and spacing from there since it's not configurable, but I'm not sure if this is something that tweaks this vertical alignment as well.

Maybe I just got lucky on this one as I haven't had this problem on either of my themes I finished this year.

Can't say that I have had any issues with mine, either. Would probably have to ask to see the selector image being used, get dimensions, etc. to try to figure out why it isn't centering on the text.

Damn, ok. I'm trying to do a loop around the list so that could be the problem... the lists in the theme are all approximately the same width, but height varies. (List=789,64,793,988)

Attached a pic of the list and the selector image itself - and another thing I just tried. I made the unselected image the same as the selected image. It seems there's a space above (or below) each item where the selector isn't stretching into... So....the selector is always off a bit and not centered.

Alrighty - first off, thanks for providing the pics - I didn't really need them.. just joking! They help a lot acutally.

I can see what you are saying as you want the oblong to be centered on what would be the center of the text. What I am going to sugget may require some experimentation as I don't know if this is something that can be fixed easily by Tom.

I would try is this.. adding additional space beneath your selector graphic. If I were working within GIMP or Photoshop, I would start a new image as a transparency (probably about 10-20 pixels taller than your selector image) and then paste yours as a separate layer on top. I would then "guestimate" where to center it vertically over that transparency layer, then save it and test. You may be able to adjust it to where it finally centers around the text.

I think you'll still hit this problem though. The text is top aligned to the bar (or it looks to be anyway) .

Always worth a go. I am not sure if changing font size will matter either. I would consider this in the bug category.

+1. That's a bug. Wonder why I don't see that happening on my rig though?

Edit: it does. I just never noticed!

So, I'm doing theme development on a diff. computer than my cab and demoing in a lower res window than my cab uses. I saw something interesting when I ran on my cab - basically, depending on how zoom actually occurs, I MAY be able to pull the bottom up a bit by having some transparent area and shifting a few things around to 'fake' the centering. Not perfect and definitely a 'hack' workaround...but it may work.

I'll post an update here if I get it working...going camping/paintballing early tomorrow morning so won't be until sun night/monday that I get to trying.

Adding some extra transparent 'space' to the bottom of the image and modifying the sides made it look somewhat better, but the text being aligned almost at the top means centering is difficult to do with the kind of selector graphic I have above.
