MAME143u7 Update & GameEX

Gameex is only showing 10,428 total MAME games(no filters on),the u7 update was about 10 gigs.there are now 18,405 total games.

Most fruit machines were added to MAME.When I updated my list it went really fast,just like when all the pinball games were added to MAME.

Time to raise the limit again Tom!

Thanks for letting me know. Ill take a look. I suspect these new games should be filtered from the list as they are in no way playable?

All "mechanical" games should already be filtered out by GameEx anyway. The huge add in numbers must somehow still be causing an issue though. It will be fixed for the next release.

Can this be changed if a user wants all games supported regardless if they play or not?

I would like for my GameEX to list every game in MAME even if they don't work please.

The thing is these "mechanical" games are never likely to be playable ever in MAME alone. Its mostly just old gambling/fruit machines.

I try not to be too opinionated on the current state of MAME development, but yeah.

MAME 127 ListInfo.xml is 29.7 MB and MAME 143 is 46.6 MB.

because one day MAME will run these games,eliminating the need for AGEMAME & PINMAME...??? I assume?

but yea,since Aaron Giles is no longer heading the project and this new guy Kale is,there have been some rather "interesting" changes

although I am really happy with u7,since now most of the cave games work!

and with u8,the remaining ones w\o sound will have sound.

cave games rule! (if you like vertical shooters,that is)

Thanks for the info. Just found this thread on the MAMEWorld forums where Aaron introduces him as the new coordinator.

No. We've said all along that "gui ports" are a terrible idea for exactly this reason (and especially since MAMEUI doesn't have a team to debug this sort of stuff anymore). Frontends like EmuLoader and GameEx are in a much better place.

@ HK yea I remember that post.It was nice to see GameEX getting mentioned.and he is correct.MAMEUI causes more problems then it is worth.not to mention it now takes a eternity to load.thats why CL MAME and a good FE (GameEX) is much more efficient.

Work on the Arcade games that have not worked in the past, don't add a bunch of mechanical or other stuff that is borderline arcade related IMHO. We already have MESS vying to be the "one ring that rules them all" for the consoles and handhelds. Do we really need MAME heading in the same direction?

Very true.its like they are getting in way over their heads,why add all these pinball\fruit machines to MAME when there are 2 perfectly working emulators that DO run these games....
