2 problems with gameex, help appriciated

Two things going on, one the sorting options are not working for me (ie no mahjong, no shooting games etc) in the options. Second the controls png's are all in a folder called controls and gameex points to that folder in the settings but when I hover over control's in a game selection it plays the video and doesnt show the arcade controls. All the other options (cabinet etc) work fine. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

For #2: You have the control pngs named the same as the game file names, or are you using one static image for them all?

Just wanted to clarify, for MAME there is a difference between the standard control panel images ("Panel Path" in Setup Wizard) and "View Controls" which shows the built in GameEx control panel viewer. Specificing a single control panel image is for other emulators, not MAME.

ok, how do I set up the built in viewer then, when I go to the control panel tab in the game menu it just replays the game video

It sounds like you may have possibly changed the controls.ini path in GameEx rather than correctly set the path to the control panels images. Posting your log will let me see if that is the case or not.

Do you have any filters turned on in the mame options, do these games show in the normal mame listing?

Also, you probably have to rebuild your MAME rom list after you've made any changes to your filters.

Go to Start Menu > Program Files > GameEx > Log File .

Start...Programs...GameEx...Utilities...Log File.
