Is there a way to make 3d box art rotate like the arcade machines in the mame section of gameex.

Can anyone layout the steps for me or if it is possible.

I got some amazing 3d box art from hyperspin.. but I prefer gameex.

They are in png format.. but I here they can rotate in hyperspin..

If gameex can't make a png file spin.. does anyone know how to

convert it to a file that would.

And also what folders in gameex all of this stuff should go..

thanks alot

I personally downloaded and installed this, directly from GameEx site. These files have an .x as extension, but I have no idea about what kind of files these can be. I'm not savvy in this matter, but you could take a look at the link above.

P.S.: Don't think you'll get a 3D image for every game in a MAME set... only the most famous ones.

EDIT: Just wondering how in the hell could a png image become a 3D model?????

Cheers,

Alpha.

I think he has a misunderstanding. Those 3d boxes he has in png, are probably ones that show the box from a 3d perspective. It's still a flat image, so it cant be rotated. It's not like those pngs are in a format where you can slap them on top of a 3d model, and they'll show up in 3d (AFAIK anyway).

So yea. Just a misunderstanding.

And to answer clearly, no. :(

Youre right. Wed need a model and then front back and sides of the box art.

You can try and mock up a model in Google Sketch-Up though. These can be made to work with GameEx. Devote a lot of time to it though.

If the box art you have is the same as EmuMovies has, you won't be able to do that on this alone.

This is a link to what I'm talking about.. the guys speaks

about them being able to be rendered and rotated in different positions..

also he says they have fronts and backs on them.. I don't know how

they could without being 3D.. because they aren't separate files

Alpha - The files with the .x extension are the 3-D Cab images that have been converted from Google Sketch-up (see the collection I found by Gozer) and a few other sources.

Duke - Upon reading the posts it appears that he is looking to make these animated via a .swf format (Adobe ShockWave). Basically animated Flash files.
