I don't know what's up. Everything worked fine yesterday. Now I get a strange crash evertime I try to launch.

It's obviously a Direct X issue. I've already checked, and I'm running the latest version, and the latest video card drivers. The one thing I'm going to try next is reboot the computer. I'm running a virus scan right now, so I'm gonna wait till that's done first. I just thought I'd post it here and see if one of the 'pros' has another suggestion worth trying. What's wierd is how far GameEx gets before the crash; The screen goes black, there's no loadup sound, the main background of the theme (Draco's Enter the Dragon) displays for about 2 seconds, then the crash appears before the lists start to be populated. I'm thinking I just need to flush out the cache/memory in the computer/video card since I haven't actually done a safe shutdown and reboot in probably a week. We've been having some power outages all week, and I think it's having it's toll on my computer parts. When the computer isn't being used, it goes into a power saving standby that can be awakened only with my MCE remote. So it's not like it's been on during an outage. Just lots of wierdness happening.

If you haven't rebooted with all of that taking place (power issues) I would recommend rebooting. Sometimes the drivers do not initialize correctly when coming out of hibernate and, since you have had known power issues, I would bet that Windows has become unstable as a result. Whenever troubleshooting, the obvious often isn't. Always try a reboot first to reinitialize your drivers and Windows environment. Working from simple (reboot) to complex (clearing cache files, changing theme, etc.) will save you lots of time and headache.

Yea, I rebooted and it fixed the problem. I figured that was all I needed. I just wanted to post up the problem/log just incase it wasn't as simple as that, so ya'll could get a head start on troubleshooting it for me. Funny things, these computers. :)

Trust me, we have plenty of other user issues to help fix. Better for you to troubleshoot the basics and if it gets beyond you, then post your issue, provide the necessary log and ini files, etc. I would rather spend my time going after the tougher stuff than things you already probably know how to troubleshoot/fix on your own.;)
