Krakerman Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Ok guys here is a look at the Video Slots I made for my theme
Adultery Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Looks awesome! I love that disc too. I also enjoy Wolf Run. IGT slots are fun! I've spent a few bucks on Double Diamond Deluxe and Haywire at the local casino.
Krakerman Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Ok I re-did my Start page and gave my theme a new name that I settled on. This theme will be called "Retro Arcade" and here is a peek at it! [REMOVED IMAGE]
Krakerman Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Updated the start page as it needed a few tweaks and touching up.
hansolo77 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Ok guys here is a look at the Video Slots I made for my theme The videoslots text looks a bit weak compared to the rest of the graphics on that background. Other than that, the rest does look really cool!
Krakerman Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks! I'll have to do alot of touching up as I go along. I'm not a professional graphic artists by any stretch of the imagination and still learning on how to use these paint programs. Many nights watching YouTube videos and teaching myself basically and forums reading.Maybe someday I can get up to par with the likes of Draco and Adultery as these two guys have helped me along alot and their themes are of amazing quality.
Adultery Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Haha! On the flip I'be been using Photoshop for over 10 years. I was nowhere near as good as you are now! My first theme disgusts me when I look back at it! Lol!Thanks for the compliment Krak. I'm more than happy to give you technique advice, but you got a pretty good handle on things already. I am also self taught (as is Draco) and we'd probably agree that doing it on your own is the best way to learn. Keep up the good work! I like the directon you're taking. It works well and looks nice without being too busy.PS: you could probably clean up your edges with a slight bevel. If you were so inclined.
hansolo77 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I'm no pro either. Been dabbling in Photoshop for years too. I wouldn't even classify myself as an amature graphic artist. When it comes down to it, I'm just cheap wannabe who knows how to cut and paste and use layers. If I were asked to actually DESIGN something from scratch, I'd have no skillset at all. Most of my work is in designing replacement DVD covers (replacing those fire destroyed ones). I've got a full set of Disney Movies, going to be working on their counterparts next (like sequels and direct to home movies). I'm re-uploading all mine from my computer so they're safe online somewhere, I'll link them if anybody is intersted in seeing them.
Adultery Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 It isn't too hard to create stuff from scratch if you can draw. Layers and filters seem the hardest to grasp for most folks (aside from cropping and cutting). If you can do that you're already half way there.
Draco1962 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 "Layers? Parfaits have layers. Everyone loves a parfait!"
hansolo77 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 No-No, it's more like onions. Onions have layers. (somewhat of a quote from Shrek)
nizzoatlarge Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 This theme looks amazing!! Excellent work...cant wait to see the final product. You got my vote for the theme comp!
Krakerman Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks for the vote nizzoatlarge! Well finished up quite a few things the last few days. Going to take a break next week as I will be on vacation and heading to Vegas baby! Celebrating our 20 year anniversary, but will pick it back up when I get back. I finished my intro splash screen w/effect and the intro music which I am very happy with. The following baks are done as well:WonderswanWonderswan ColorAcorn ElectronWatara SupervisionBBC MicroExidy SorcererMGT Sam CoupeHartung Game MasterSee ya all when I get back.
Krakerman Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 UPDATE! Since I got back from Vegas I've had a bunch of issues on my PC which I've fixed via re-formatting and I've been slowly getting my system back up and running which is very time consuming. So hopefully by next weekend I can get back to working on my theme. Currently it's about 70% complete, but it is up and running on my restored pc. Thank goodness for backups learned that lesson years and years ago.I have all the emulators complete at this time, but a few need some tweaking so hopefully I will have this beast ready for the holidays.
Krakerman Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Ok guys I gave my new theme a makeover and went full 1920x1080 and making dramatic graphic changes all around. So with that said it will be much longer before I have a release for you all, but it will be well worth it in the end. Hopefully real soon I can give you a peek at the new look.
Draco1962 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 You are a tease! Look forward to seeing the theme!
Krakerman Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 I know ... good thing the competition due date isn't for awhile.
Krakerman Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 WOW! is all I can say about the new revision. You will be in for a treat I think ... I hope. I just finished the new HD framework for the theme and starting to put the new systems together starting with MAME and it is looking 100x better with the newer resolution and re-design. Will try to get a snap up this weekend of it.The new design will have custom emulator/module layouts for each system which I am real excited about which gives me much much more freedom to create better layouts.
Krakerman Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 Ok I managed to get a couple snaps for you all to see the new theme.
Krakerman Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 Notice on the Atari 2600 I included Image 1 and 2 on that theme so it will display a video (which I don't have setup yet on my system just box images) and leaning against the console is a snap of each game cartridge as you scroll thru your game list.
Draco1962 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 That is a unique idea. I think that the video snaps on the TV would look better in conjunction with the cartridge displayed. Coming along good!
Krakerman Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 Yes videos are what I am going to use but I will add that at the end as I don't have a membership yet to emumovies. It is a bit more work but adding custom layouts for each emulator will look really cool. I will show you what I did for MAME next as I am almost there I might have a snap for it later tonight.
Krakerman Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Ok now that I managed to get back to working on my theme here is a new snap.
celly Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 K-man, I have to say that Vectrex background looks really good. Keep it up!
