[RESOLVED] Can a setting be changed in a theme by editing the ini file

I recently changed to the Space Invaders Theme. I am testig it and setting it up on a slow computer before porting it my cab. My problem is when I open all mame games the view is showing the different picture boxes and not a text list. Becasue it requires so much computing power it never loads the images so that i can change the view. As a result it locks up my computer. Is there a way to change the view in the ini file so I can load the list and not the boxes. If so where do I make the change

Open Setup Wizard before booting GameEx. Click on Custom then Next. Select Display Settings, then click Next. Go down to "Display Image/Video List" and change setting to No. Next a few more times then Exit. This should remedy the problem and give you a text-only list when you load GameEx.

Evening Draco,

All ready checked that. I have text everywhere, except when I click on Mame,then All Mame Games.

That is where it wants to show images. All other emulators and menus are fine and show text.

Odd. Have you cleared out all cache files?

EDIT: Load the gameex.ini file in Notepad and search for the following lines:

[list_SETTINGS_0]

displaybackgroundimage=True

displayimagelist=False

You will see multiple list settings for each emulated system. If you locate any settings that show displayimagelist=True, edit it to read displayimagelist=False then save. Load GameEx and see if this resolves the problem.

Remove the video path from your setting for the emulator giving you problems, run GameEx, change the view to list with the theme you desire, exit GameEx, put the video path back in.

Problem solved. :)

Did something similar. Changed the name of the roms folder to a different name. Created a roms folder with the old name and only put in several roms. Ran GameEx. Changed the view to list in the theme, exited GameEx, and put the video path back in. Don't know why Gameex reacted like it did or what caused it.

Thanks to Adultery and Draco for their help. :D

On a side note for Draco have you created any more system pics for your theme. I don't see one for

AAE

Sega Computer 3000 (SC-3000)

Sega Super Control Station (SF-7000)

Sega Pico

TurboGrafx-16 CD

I have not created many new logos as I have been concentrating on a new theme. I ask that for any specific requests that users post any console/handheld and logo images in the Graphic and Theme Editing thread over in the Social Club forum. I will review the requests and decide which ones I have time to work on or not. Keep in mind that if the system is actually a minor upgrade to a more dominant system with few if any programs written specifically for it, there is a likelihood that it will not get its own logo. Since my logo packs are generally pretty extensive, I would like to see the end users pick up the tools available and provide for the community the obscure systems. ;)
