If you answered yes, why? It seems to emulate stuff MAME can handle just as well. What does this emu add that MAME doesn't?

I'm not sure as you noted, most everything is handled by Mame, although some of the megadrive features may make it worth it to someone that is just looking to emulate some of the more limited and obscure systems along with CPS1 & 2.

FBA is another one of those "obsolete" emulators,it really was at its height when it was able to emulate cps2 before MAME could.

I do however use FBA-X on a modded original xbox and it works pretty well on there

It's a shame really since it's actively worked on, but that's kind of what I figured.
