Clean up at the office

Some of you may know, I work for Union Pacific Railroad. I work an extra board that covers when people take vacation or are sick and I'm on call 24/7. Sometimes, as an extra board employee, I get to see some of the nasty derailments and accidents that tend to happen in my field. Some rad, some not so rad. This was a not so rad day. Well that's if you like brand new American made cars like I do.

A loaded westbound auto train derailed 4 cars on the heavy grade (2% grade) right outside of Colfax, CA and then dragged them a mile before stopping.

Here's what it looked like from the cab of the locomotive -

This was taken after we laid the new rail panels down -

More carnage (notice the wheel axels off to the left) -

I really don't know where they go after an accident like this happens. Honestly, I'll take any one of those cars and fix it up. Little bondo, some duct tape and it'd be good to go.
