AlphaUMi
Thanks for this quick release, Tom!But I'm afraid I have to report a strange behaviour. After upgrading to 12.02, when I exit a MAME game I get the input control disabled. To explain better: I press ESC or my global exit combination key, and GameEx re-appears, but my joypad doesn't work, nor the arrow keys. GameEx is not freezed, just the controls are disabled. The mouse works fine. Note that this happens only with MAME, with my other emulators GameEx acts right...

I tried with v2 themes and with another v4 theme, and the joypad works as expected.Draco, could you test Enter the Dragon on your system, and see if you can reproduce the bug?By the way, I haven't touched the theme in any way. Draco1962
Troubleshooting the problem I found out that the culprit isn't GameEx, but my current theme: Enter the Dragon (or maybe the culprit is GameEx that changes things... relativity, you know... ). I must note that I am not using it in conjunction with any profiler software (yet). The themes should have no impact on how a controller responds, never-the-less.Since most of the changes implemented as of late are geared towards V4 themes, I wonder if it may be something in those changes that is causing the impact. There were a few other issues similarly reported by other users prior to the 12.01 release (and possibly prior to 11.99 although don't hold me to that).Regardless, please provide a copy of the log.txt file after the incident occurs. Info about your gamepad, profiler software, etc. may be useful.

Krakerman
Yes I just tried playing a MAME game as well then when exiting back to GameEx the gamepad (XBOX360 Wireless) doesn't work or the keyboard for that matter, but soon as I unplugged the battery from the controller then the keyboard worked again. Adultery
Do you have to do that every time? Or it just happened once?
AlphaUMi
Well, it turns out that the joypad problem occurs with BlueBox Mod 2.0 (downloaded half an hour ago), other than Enter the Dragon. It's annoying that the most beautiful themes have this problem now. It's not forgettable, since having to restore GameEx every time you launch a MAME game means that there is no way to go for that theme in my setup. I tried with Giga Drive (which is a v4 theme) and all is good. V2 themes present no problems too.I use a joypad made by Kraun which works with direct input: no need for drivers, immediately recognised by Windows. Never had a problem before. The joypad works perfectly.I use no key profiler, so the input goes directly to Windows without intermediating stuff.I have the latest DirectX 9.0c installed, so the DirectInput is updated too.And I have Windows XP SP3.@Krakerman: do you have WinXP too? If yes, maybe this could be related to the issue...And here is my log, in which you, who can read it, can find something interesting near the end, something regarding exceptions not handled and other boolean stuff. This log was created only by starting GameEx, starting a MAME game, returning to GameEx (and at this point the issue appears), finally closing GamEx. Since this never happened before version 12, it could be that at least something recently modified in the GameEx code causes the issue to arise.Log:20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Opening Configuration File20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: GameEx: Version 12.02: Starting Log20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Operating System Platform: Win32NT20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Operating System Name: Windows XP20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Operating System Version: 5.1.260020:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: .net Framework 1.1 Installed20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: .net Framework 2.0 Installed20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: .net Framework 3.0 Installed20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: .net Framework 3.5 Installed20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Intel® Pentium® M processor 1.60GHz, 2047MB20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: 1,6Ghz20:55:44.9 20/08/2011: Running Randomize()20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Loading PlugIns20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Running Misc startup tasks20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Setting Menu types20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Getting Configuration Values20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Using Theme: BlueBox Mod20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: BlueBox Mod20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Launching HideOS.exe20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: GameEx will check for media insertion (may affect performance)20:55:45.0 20/08/2011: Hiding Taskbar20:55:45.1 20/08/2011: Is Media Center running?20:55:45.1 20/08/2011: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values20:55:45.1 20/08/2011: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode20:55:45.1 20/08/2011: Media Center Mode 220:55:45.1 20/08/2011: Video previews on. Adultery
Interesting. I don't think I have these issues and obviously I use BlueBox Mod 2.0The only difference is I use xpadder as opposed to direct joypad inputs. My keyboard works just fine.Does this also happen after GameEx returns from 'attract mode'?

Krakerman
The problem has been with all version of 11.99 and above that I tested. I just re-installed 11.95 and everything works fine, but 11.99 and above joypad and keyboard stops working.
Adultery
The only thing I think has changed since then is the global escape hook... am I correct in assuming that has something to do with it?
AlphaUMi
Attract mode enabled. Launched GameEx. After the attract mode the joypad works, the input comes... Only after launching and exiting a MAME game the error comes...EDIT: now I read your last comment about the global exit key. Let's try to disable it and see what happens.EDIT2: No way, even disabling the global exit command, the joystick doesn't respond. (I tried with BlueBox Mod v2.0). Adultery
So it's only MAME games? Emulators don't lose the joypad?
