Hey guys!

I have an odd problem relating to .Netframework when launching GameEx. Everything was working fine until I upgraded. Not sure if this is GameEx related or not. But here is a screenshot of what I'm getting

Hiya Hunk.

We're gonna need to see your full GameEx log after the crash. Please make sure your .net framework is up to date and you have applied all the service packs.

Hey man its been awhile!

I'm pretty sure my .net framework is update to date. But strangest thing is I can't find my log anywhere :blink:

From this thread comes out that GameEx from v. 12.00 needs .NET Framework 4.0 or above. By chance I had it already installed.

.NET Framework 4.0 is not installed automatically by Windows Update. You have to browse to Windows Update with IE and install it manually. You should find it under 'optional updates'.

Let us know if this works for you!

Thanks for replying Alpha!

Turns out I do have .Net Framework 4 installed. I even downloaded it again and it did a repair. But still same error. Since I can't find my GameEx log (very weird) Here's the error I get from clicking details.

Man that really looks like a .net error to me... your GameEx log is under start->all programs -> gameex -> utilities :)

What are all the versions of .net you have installed?

just 2 and 4 I think. I have to look.

Looks like 2 and 3 are installed. You sure you got 4 on there? Check your installed programs list and see if it shows up in there.

The only thing I have that you don't (aside from 4) is .net 1.0

Hmm I have. net framework 4 extended and .net framework 4 client profile

Maybe GameEx doesn't hook 4 yet. Can you install 1 and 1.1? That's the only difference I can see.

Tried install .net 1 it says it only supported XP and didn't run under 64bit. Tried 1.1 it installed. But GameEx is doing the same thing. Even tried downloading GameEx again and re-installing.

Man, it seems to me that GameEx only really needs 2.0 anyways unless the documentation needs to be updated. Can you try a couple things?

Uninstall and reinstall .net 2.0

Download the GameEx offline installer and run it afterwards.

Not sure what else to try.

Looks like I have that installed too. And already tried re-installing GameEx.

So far as I am aware, when installing .net frameworks before version 4.0, they should be installed in version order. .net 4.0 is its own framework and, while not dependednt upon the previous versions, is backwards compatible to them.

Can you also post your log garboy? I'd like to look for similarities.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Awesome, thanks for the quick update Tom! It worked for me. This can be marked as resolved. Unless it didn't work for garboy?
