scunnyutd Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Hi, moved over from the general forum.Would it be possible to configure gameextender to actually select what images can be displayed remotely? Also, an option to allow remote control of the actual cabinet to be turned on / off.I use the link to ip:port to display a gameex image online but would like to able to choose just a snapshot with no stats, marquees etc and no cabinet interactive control. Thanks Quote
starbuck Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I know that Tom and Headkaze is working on a updated GameEx. Would love for them to incorporate under each system the ability to have a seperate folder like in videos.I click on videos, I then have sub folders for comedy, action, etc.For systems I have to do the following. For example. SNES, a serperate emulator spot for Japanese and USA and Europe and Hombrew.Doing as above, you click on SNES and the next screen shows folders for Japanese and USA and Europe and Hombrew. I then greatly reduce my systems list and speed up my system 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Not sure if this has been mentioned but the ability to create different background for each menu item. So for example when you create a custom menu and you select between the different systems you can have a background image for each system you switch between this way you can use a graphical menu instead of a text based one (with maybe fade in effects or others possibly) and also maybe a box to play a video if you so choose. kannadav Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Hi to all! There is a feature that i'd like to see in GameEx: The AutoLaunch of a game. i.e.: when i am in a singular game menù, i can set this game in autolaunch if i go on other singular game menù and i set on su AutoLaunch, the previous game is disabled In Main menù there is a voice such "game in autolaunch" and inside there is the game set in this way it could be enlarged to a list of games and at startup of GameEx, the frontend choose randomly a game for the autolaunch. Krakerman Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Not sure if I have mentioned this before (I'm sure I have) but GameEx needs the ability to create background images for each custom menu selection. So for example if you create a custom menu and have say MAME, ATARI 2600, DAPHNE each of those could have a custom background when it's highlighted. Maybe even the possiblity to have transitions so you could have each one either fade in or users could create their own transitions. Quote
helpman Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It would be great to be able to use two (or more) joysticks when defining keys in gameex.Just like I can set mame to use any button, either player 1 or player 2 sides, gameex should separate if the button is player 1 or player 2 side.Just an example: I want to set the exit combo with both flipper/bump sides, so that's 4 buttons. 1pF,1pB, 2pF 2pB.I have the controls splitted in half, so each "joystick" only manages half the buttons. But when I try to set them on gameex it's the same no matter which one you click. as I have them on the same buttons of each side, it just places twice each button.it should be (just to make it clear) 1A|1B|2A|2B. and for gameex it's just A|B|A|B. I just need to click the 2 buttons on either side to make it exit. Not what I wanted. On a more classic approach, tried to set the exit code to 1player/2player buttons at the same time. I just get the same button twice. A|A. If I set this, I just click on 1player or 2player and the game exits. :( Again, tried to use joystick 1 for up/down/left/right and joystick 2 for fast paging using left right. Now if I try to go to the left or right with player 1 joystick it also jumps page up/down... Quote
helpman Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Don't even know if this has been already available, I just can't find it...Now I have MAME on the main menu, and every other system in emulated games. I just use gameex as arcade cabinet, and would be great to have all the game systems available on the main menu instead of a submenu Quote
Draco1962 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 You can do this with the Custom Menu application which is included with your GameEx install. Quote
helpman Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I'll check it later, thanks!BTW, another suggestion:When gameex suggest you other games on the game details screen it should filter the suggestions with your available roms so it would only suggest games you can play. 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The ability under the custom menus to combine emulators similar to grouping except doing it this way can prevent issues with custom map files. Quote
helpman Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Suggestion: Add an option on the input settings to map a key/button or combo to add a rom to favorites so you can add them fast and easilly from the rom list Quote
nightwulf Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I'd like an option to group titles by database name regardless of file name. That is, if via a database I inform GameEx that the files "Kirby Super Star," "Kirby Fun Pack," and "Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe" all have the name "Kirby Super Star," then the title should appear once in my gamelist. Clicking on it would list all three versions of the game (and their revisions).Current behavior is to group the titles only when the file name (at least up to the first parenthesis, bracket, etc.) matches. In the above example, "Kirby Super Star" is listed three times -- once for each region, and the one that corresponds to "Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe" lists all three revisions. For systems I have to do the following. For example. SNES, a serperate emulator spot for Japanese and USA and Europe and Hombrew.Doing as above, you click on SNES and the next screen shows folders for Japanese and USA and Europe and Hombrew. I then greatly reduce my systems list and speed up my systemI've got a setup like what you're describing. I split my ROMs into separate folders (US, Japan, Europe, etc.) and add an emulator entry for each, using a different ROM folder for each emulator (even though they're all Snes9x). A small hassle, but it works well once you've got it set up. I'd like to merge everything into one big list, but the issue above is not making it possible. 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 The ability to load a custom splash screen before each game/emulator selected. So if we choose to run an Atart 2600 game and say I select Adventure ... it will load a spash screen made with a png/jpg file for x amount of minutes (that we could assign as well) before it loads the game. If left blank or option set to disable then it will not run any splash screen. So for it to work in the GameEx setup wizard there will be an entry like:1) Spash Screen Enable/Disable2) Amount of seconds to display (maybe 0-60 or a custom number that we could enter)3) Directory to where you keep your splash screens. Then the filename for each splash screen will match the name of each rom. If no splash screen is found or have been created yet then it just skips the splash screen and just runs the game/rom.This way each game could have a custom loading screen with possibile animated GIF's as well. Krakerman Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Another request is to be able to have a background image for each menu item that is highlighted so from the main menu (custom menu) when you move to select each emulator it will automatically change the background without having to select it. Doing this we could actually remove the text and have a graphical frontend for each menu item if we so choose. Much much more custom looking frontend! Quote
Draco1962 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Couldn't that be done by creating a full screen logo file, click Change View until the logo file shows in the background? 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Actually If you do it that way you can't use the logos and splash screen together as they both would be the same. The way I requested would keep them indepent of each other so you could have logos and a splash screen. Also if you did it that way each game would have the same logo when I want to have a different splash screen for each game this way you could also make a custom looking loading screen for each game if you wanted. Quote
Draco1962 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I would think that it would only pull the logo file identified in the Custom Menu setup for the emulator targeted from the emulator select menu, Once you get into the emulator level itself, then the per game images you have setup should load. 1 Quote
helpman Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Suggestion: Use game' snapshots or videos as highscore background.Suggestion: customize highscore font type, size, outline and alignment for highscore screenSuggestion: use a text scroller to display a game's highscores on the game selection screen and/or the game details (or as another picture with the snapshot or video background on the game selection screen or game info screen) 1 Quote
stigzler Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Hi Folks,At the moment, random videos play on my home screen (when MAME highlighted) and also random videos for each of the emulators when hover select over them. Is there any way to have text underneath displaying the name of the game (and possibly system for when for e.g. hover over game in favourites)??CHeersSteve Quote
eatfreshsub Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Suggestion: Multiple Favorite Lists/Custom Genre, I would like to be able to combine all my systems favorite Beat'em ups, Shooters, Run n'Guns etc. Gameex doesn't really do Categories well for most systems, and it would just be nice to be able to manually add favorite games from all systems and organize them by genre. Not to mention, in order for Windows games to show up with Steam, you need to add your games into Steam itself, and this can be a problem, since if you shut down steam forcibly, it will often erase all your shortcuts. This would be a pretty nice way to alleviate that problem. ThanksScott Quote
helpman Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Another suggestion (for theme editor/theme parsing)Allow per-item configuration options, like set default view for layouts, set if the menu bar should be a bar or a top-down options list, choose what kind of picture or media should be displayed in image1 or 2... (and add support for image3, image4...)Allow the rom list to keep selected item on a fixed position (like in a wheel, where you go up or down the wheel's moving but the item selected should always be on the middle)Allow a per-text-box full customization (each text box should be able to keep it's own text font, size, alignment...)Add a mockup or live preview system so you could check how the skin actually looks on theme editor rather than keep launching gameex to check your settings. 1 Quote

garig0 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hello all I've got a request about a new feature which could be integrated : Spotify music playerI know there is a recent plugin for xbmc : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=125147So, we can use it through Xmbc, or maybe you could integrate it through developer's API ?Thank you for your great work.Have a good day.garig0 Quote
paulmichel21 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 thought it would be good to ask password to open the adult game. Is there a plugin for this? Quote
helpman Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Suggestion: just as having a video with the same name as a game's snapshot or system logo will show the video instead of the image, use the same for rom or system names. If there's a png with the same name of the menu item, display the picture instead.(with a maximum height/width scaling and option to keep proportions or not set in the theme.ini file). Quote
