Snaps-> Vids and Static

Hey guys, quick question. Say I have a folder "snaps" which is full of static images. If I download a video snap collection, and put them in the same folder as the statics, will GameEx try the videos first or do I have to erase all my statics?

Should load video snaps first by default, if no vid, then static.

Also to be noted; if you do it this way and keep them in the same folder, your gamercard will display the snap properly even if you have a video. Almost all my emus have a snap and a static just for this purpose.

Yeah, now if I can just figure out how that "skinny Match" program works. A lot of my roms don't have matching art, but they're in the folder so GameEx doesn't match it right.

I grabbed a torrent that had a whole bunch of system videos altogether. There's a lot of holes though. When I can afford it, I will buy an emumovies subscription.

Well the Download Service Utility has SkinnyMatch built into it, so you essentially have the same tools at your disposal. Of course, GameEx can create your missing snaps and movies for you.

I will say that the artwork and videos behind it are what make it special though And it's getting better all the time

Hansolo, there is a ton of free content over at emumovies too, all of the artwork and most of the 240p sets. I have been working around the clock to get stuff added, im almost up to 150 different packs in the last month and a half, and the download service works with everything but videos in free mode.

You'll definitely want to load up on what you can of the mp4 sets as they are smaller than the normal .avi format and much better IMHO!

Wow, I didn't know that the Download Utility worked with regular stuff, I honestly thought you had to be a member to use it at all! That's cool!

You have to be a basic member for sure, but there is no charge for that. Only videos are locked out and you have a 250mb per day limit as a basic member. Plus you have a 250MB per day limit in our downloads section. In total as a basic member you can download 500MB per day if you work the system.

Yup - with daily limits of course! But at least it gives those new to emulation a leg up and an opportunity to try before they buy.

It should reside in your GameEx root directory by the name of "Download Service Utility.exe." You will need to go over to EmuMovies to establish a free account so that you will have the username/password needed to access the media available at the free level and, if a paid subscription, the better videos.

It should be instant as there are no people involved. If you dont get the confirmation email just submit a support ticket and I can validate you manually.
