GameEX and Taito Type X

I don't do that for all games. I have a hunch what's happening here.

Turn GameEx's mapping off and let ESC kill the game instead of having GameEx brute force the process killing. If the game quits gracefully the loader returns your screen to the proper resolution.

EDIT: whoops, I didn't read your post close enough. I don't know why this is happening to you, my machine returns everything to normal on games I can't fix the resolution on. :(

I am unable to duplicate. My resolution is fine when exiting with ESC. Are you setting the resolution for the game also to match that of your display?

Yes i have a 1080P display and i set the resolution to 1920 x 1080. Of course only i would have these weird problems that nobody eles has. Well guess no Taito for me :(

I'll be in chat room for a real-time support for a bit if interested. If I don't catch you then we'll try to troubleshoot as best we can.

After struggling with just launching a game outside of GameEx, finally I got it ironed out and running. Thanks to Mesk, Adultery and fReq for the help (if you knew it or not). Now I just need a logo for both Type X and Type X2 hint hint Draco!

Time to bust out Photoshop! ;)

PS: There are a few non-Type X games in the launcher too. Guess putting a PC in a cabinet is the way to go these days. Lazy asses! LOL

Well I guess I'm not all set, KOF MIRA still crashes like before (even with compatibility set to Win XP). Originally I thought it was the game I had acquired but I think its a Win7 issue.

Hmmm... another logo? Sheesh! "Working in the coal mines, going down, down...."

As soon as I get some game characters to add (hint, hint) to the logo I will gussy it up and post.

KoF MIRA doesn't crash for me on Windows 7? Try setting compatibility mode to Windows NT instead.

On it's own it crashed every time for me. Even switched to Win NT it would still crash. Once I loaded it through PC Arcade Loader, then using the _Launcher.exe shortcut method, it works like a champ.

I had the same problem with a couple games. Not sure how the launcher fixed them for me but it did. I think some games need to be in 16-bit color to work.

UPDATE:

ArcadePC Loader has been updated to 1.3. Here's the changelog:

- Added support for the game "Beatmania IIDX 17: Sirius";

- Removed the "green box" in the corner of screen (on Windows Vista / Seven 100% working);

- Added new skin "Spots";

- Other minor fixes and optimizations.

Glad to be rid of the 'green box' issue. It was a minor annoyance. :)

So i decided to give it another go Setting up Taito. I just couldn't let this be the only emulator to get the best of me LoL. i have 20 of the available games & all of them run fine when using the ArcadePC Loader 1.3. the problem is getting them all to run in Gameex. so far of the 20 games i can only get 14 to play through Gameex. i'm am using the create shortcut *LNK method (thanks Adultery) so ill try and detail the problems i'm having with the remaining 6 games:

BLAZBLUE CALAMITY TRIGGER:

I cant find a .exe/.bat file that will launch the game with out the ArcadePC Laoder. if i use launcher.exe i get i/o error. i tried different compatibly modes with no luck. the only way i can launch this game without the ArcadePC Loader is to drag the launcher.exe file to the typex_loader.exe file. not sure how i could duplicate that command to make it work in Gameex?

SPICA ADVENTURE:

If i try to run using the game.exe file the game gets stuck on a loop on the first screen where it says loading on the bottom right of the screen. This game will work fine if i drag the game.exe file to the typex_loader.exe file. Again not sure how i could duplicate that command to make it work in Gameex?

KOF XIII:

Works outside Gameex if launch with the loader.bat file so i made a shortcut of this file. but if i try to launch through Gameex it will try to load but then kick me back to Gameex. This game also works outside Gameex if i drag the game.exe file to the typex_loader.exe file.

TETRIS THE GRAND MASTER 3:

Will load outside Gameex with either the TGM3.exe or TGM3.bat files. I tried creating shortcuts of both and launching through Gameex but neither shortcut worked. Gameex will try to load but then kick me back to Gameex. this game will also load outside Gameex if i drag the game.exe file to the typex_loader.exe file.

POWER INSTINCT 5:

The only problem im having with this game is once it loads the d-pad on both controllers go crazy and i cant control them. Making it impossible to select the character you want. all the other buttons seem to work fine. i tried mapping the buttons using both old & new style configurations with no luck. I wonder if i may have to use xpadder for this game.

OTOMEDIUS:

This game only works if i load the bms_GGG.exe first and then load otomedius.exe while bms_GGG.exe is still running in background. Not sure how to duplicate this in the command line for Gameex.

Also i'm attaching my Taito Type X .ini. If anyone could help me iron out the rest these issues i would greatly appreciate it. i would love to get these last 6 games working. Thanks

As for BlazBlue: are you using multiple monitors?

For TTGM: I have a similar issue launching this game. It gets stuck for me too but if I send ESC while it's stuck it loads.

What OS are you using? You added the programs I mentioned to GameEx Advanced Config right? Many you list work fine for me. I haven't tried Otomedius yet, but it's not a Type X game so it may be an issue with the file system itself. That being said, additional program exe's will need to be added to Advanced Config since they're not game.exe or launcher.exe as are the Type X ones.

I use xpadder for all these games as opposed to joystick mapping so you may solve some issues there. Tough to say why some of these aren't working for you. It's also true that if you use joypad mapping 8-way controls don't work (sucks for fighting games) so you're better off using xpadder.

:Edit: I haven't set up v1.3 yet so it looks like I need to do that and do some more testing.

I have a single monitor setup. Running Windows 7 64. If i setup this emulator to send the ESC key wont it do it for all games and not just TTGM? i just wonder if i do that will it mess with other games that i already have working? As for the advance config i'm not sure what programs you are talking about or how to add them? i also noticed you said i have to set the advanced config to watch "game.exe' and 'loader.exe' but i'm really not sure how to do this either? i think this may solve my problems with KOF XII and TTGM. is There a way to send the command to drag one .exe file to another .exe file in Gameex? This is the only way i can get a few of the games to run.

Ahh see you need to have GameEx watch the child process since it's actually launching the launcher exe instead of the game itself. This step is imperative. I'll post my advanced config tomorrow and you can use that instead of trying to make one. Plus it'd be tough for me to explain while I'm at work. I'm also going to have to look closer at your INI and see if there's something I missed.

All documented cases of BlazBlue producing the I/O error are based on dual monitor setups. Maybe try mapping keyboard controls to it instead of the joypad, since that's the only other I/O device besides the monitor.

You can test TTGM by running it and pressing ESC. If you need to do it this way, you'll have to make an emulator group instead of one emu setup because you nailed it: it will send ESC to every game instead of just TTGM (unless you make a batch file).

The major issue here is that I run W7 32-bit and sometimes the issues are OS specific with PC games. I will test further but as I said many of the games you run into trouble with are working great on my rig.

Hrmph, nobody bothered to tell me yet how big this emulator/games is. Sounds really interesting, and since it seems to be the system a lot of people are figuring out right now; I'd like to help. I'm limited on drive space though (I got about 100gb left, but haven't started setting up the Pinball stuff yet).
