mesk
Ok so I pretty much have Taito TX games launching through GameEX only problem is it seems that gameex doesnt get focus back after the game is exited unless I mouse click it while it is minimized.also it looks as if before the game launches the game select screen comes back sort of like if gameex doesnt know the game is launching?does that make any sense to any of you? xDany suggestions? Adultery
Not even sure what Taito TX is to be honest! I should download whatever emulator that is and see what it's doing.

mesk
Not even a emulator Adultery, just decrypted games.if you were to crack open a taito type x arcade cab you would find a celeron 4\p4 processor, and a fairly modern video card, off the shelf MoBo running win xp
Adultery
Looks like something I need in my cab, especially with Tetris Grand Master 3 in there. I wanna wait and see if you can figure this out first, especially with the small flaws (like saving to D: since that's my DVD drive and it not liking GameEx). I may just say eff it and jump in anyways.
mesk
LOL@ Adultery like you had to have your arm twisted it works, its just like Gameex isnt waiting long enough before it retakes focus then the game launches anyways.isnt there a way to get GameEX to wait for exe's or something?ive been using this little arcade FE for now.you can grab that HERE@Adultery-you have a PM! Adultery
Can you use the .lnk method with this?
mesk
not sure.they launch via either a game.bat or a launcher.bat file, sort of like how action max games launch.i wish i knew why gameex is retaking focus so fastUPDATE: GOT IT!!!!!! you just have to use the process wait in the advanced config, and depending on whether it was launched with game.bat or launcher.bat, select the appropriate .exe YAY! now to set them all up and use emulator groups to group them all under one menu!! oh man do I love GameEX!! griggs619
@mesk Glad to hear you got it working. I think ill give this a try sometime this weekend. Hope its not to hard to figure out.
Hunk_4TH
I'll have to this a try as well. Thanks for the info on how you got it working! Btw games like Gigawing Generations seem to be rotated. Anyway to get them rotated back if that makes sense?
Adultery
Another issue I took note of. I heard you want to use irotate to correct this problem but haven't tried it myself.
Draco1962
Can you use the .lnk method with this?Remember that you can name the .lnk whatever you want to make it stand separate from the other files. That being said, the link is going to point to the required .bat. If that works, I think it would be preferable to running emulator groups IMHO. mesk
I havent used the .Ink method,I have just been copying\pasting the game.bat file as the CL,then Im going to group them all under Taito Type X Oh that sucks.when you group them it stops treating them as 1 PC game and it lists all the files in the folder.Maybe this can be changed? Adultery
Reason #2 to go for the lnk method.
Draco1962
If iRotate has to be used on some games, I would think it easy enough in the starting bat file and also have a closing bat file to start after the game is exited to rotate back.. not in the realm of my experience so if someone knows of a better idea please chime in! Adultery
I would need a bat file for xpadder anyways, so there's no reason this can't work unless it takes a bunch of tweaking.
headkaze
Howard Casto has been working on some wrappers for Taito X games. You can check them out here and the related thread here.PS If someone can post a working profile for these I can add them to default GX install. Adultery
Thanks for the share HK! Will you be including the wrappers in the download? Seems they're pretty important to getting these games running.
Draco1962
Would be great (if Mesk and Adultery wouldn't mind) documenting the install process (where to install wrappers, whether or not files need to be in a folder or can stay in zip file, how to configure GameEx, etc.). I know that Mesk is looking at one way to setup and Adultery is considering, if possible, using .lnk files. Also documenting any pitfalls along the way would be good.I would like to start gathering information so that we can begin building a decent library for most of the common setup issues. Some things we have are nicely documented, others not so much directly but through searching the forum which is a bit time consuming when there are over 300 threads in the General forum alone. If we can all get in the mindset of being thorough in documenting new system introductions and setups this will tremendously enhance GameEx as a whole! These are essentially PC games being called by a loader to hook the inputs and bypass some security points. The loader is the same for each game. The games executable is named the same. One can easilty AHK script compile to EXE that runs the loader and game, while calling Irotate etc (one for each game), You can shortcuts and am using LNK as the romextension as Adultry mentioned. Adultery
Without knowing about it, didn't realize iRotate was needed and didn't know the loader was the same for all files. Wish I could AHK but never touched it, so this is out of my range. Be happy to help wherever I can, db'ing, artwork or whatnot...

By documenting the steps one took to install and load the file within GameEx, what loaders or AHK script were used helps make things a little easier for those that journey behind. I am not really understanding how your response relates to what I was suggesting.
Adultery
I think what he was saying is it uses one loader for launching everything (the loader hooks the keys and passes the checksum), but we also need to launch iRotate to make the games work correctly. That's where AHK would come in. Then we'd link our shortcuts to the exe based on what procedure is needed to run the game in question (as I understand it some games need the screen rotated and some don't, so some will need the ahk exe and others will load directly from the launcher). The only thing missing from this theory is the wrappers HK links to, which may or may not remove the need for AHK. I really need to play around with these and see what happens to know for sure, but that's the way I understoood it.
