Hi

I have just purchased a arcade cab for the games room which is running Mame with Gameex but there seems to be a few problems with it.

1) there are several SWP Quiz games but in the main list theres 3 titles called "SWP QUIZ GAMES" 1 has 11 games in the submenu, the other two have 1 game in each. Ive looked at the "advanced configurator" but the two games on their own seem to be identical to the 11 that are in the the other heading. How can I get these other 2 games all under the one "SWP Quiz Games" heading?

2) I have set it up (trialing it) a pc game to launch and ive got the heading "PC Games" to appear on the main menu screen and then within that heading the game "Warblade" is listed but when you click on that you then get a list of the .exe files within that directory such as "config" and "crashreporter" aswell as the main "warblade.exe" which is meant to be launched. Is there anyway to not show all the other not needed files?

3) sometimes when I click the relevant cab button to exit the game and go back to the main menu sometimes I just get a black screen and then machine does nothing and the only way out is to press ctrl alt delete on the wireless keyboard. Not sure if this is anything to do with Gameex though.

Sorry for all the questions but im just trying to get my head around this software.

thanks in advance

For number 1 make sure all your roms are in the same directory in the config you have Rom path just copy all the roms there should sort this problem

For 2 you need to make sure in the configuration for rom filter you have *.exe meaning only the exe files will be shown

and 3 it seems the emulators are not giving the focus back to GameEx you`ll need to post your config and gameex, ini for help on this please see under How to ask for help

For #2:

Set your PC games up as an emulator instead. If you use the default emu config for Windows PC Games, it uses .lnk files instead of the EXEs, and when run loads the game right away. You can name the lnk file whatever you want it to appear as in the GameEx list.

Thanks everyone, I will try and play about with it later today.

1) The quiz games are in the same directory as all the other quiz games albeit theyre in their own folders but again like all the others.

2) simbamame - the filter is .exe and the files its showing are .exe files along with the main game .exe so do I just change the filter to .lnk and that would solve it?

3) I will post that later.

TSpiers - Why do you need to know who I purchased it from?

thanks again

I think he needs to know to make sure GameEx wasn't included with the purchase. Which I don't think is the case?

Colin - Welcome to the GameEx forums!

I believe what Tom (TSpiers) needs to know is if you purchased your arcade cab from a private individual or a company.

ok I found out what was wrong with the swp games, theres a emulators group and in there you have to put the game numbers seperated by semi colons and the two single games werent in that list. I added their numbers and now they are all in the same group :)

Not tried the pc game yet so will do that later.

tbh id rather not say who I purchased the cab from but I can say it was purchased privately not from a company.

thanks again

In regards to your PC game you have to go into the setup wizard ---->custom---->advanced emulator setup --->find option "treat as one PC game" and set that to "yes"

then it wont list the .exe's and other files,it will just list the name of the game

Right ive got the pc game sorted now YAY and ive also sorted the swp games so decided to play with the other emulators on the menu starting with SNES.

The config points to an emulator called "zsnes" which wasnt even installed so I installed that but again there was no snes roms so first question.....do I keep the snes roms in the zip file or will it be ok just to use the .smc file??

I set up the menu system and pointed it to a folder of zip files and when you launch gameex and goto "Snes Games" you then get the two roms listed so its recognised them but when I launch the game, the screen flashes and goes back to the menue but this time with a description about the game but thats it, you click on the game again it just does the same so something isnt quite right :(

Any ideas?

Why so dodgy about the question? I mean Tom's protecting his investment (and rightfully so). If you bought a rig and GameEx was included, and Tom doesn't see any profit from the sale, then the person who sold you the cab is pirating (especially if this person uses all the same gx reg keys and sells cabs).

We want to help you, but you have to help us too. If you bought the key yourself, awesome. If you bought a used cab from the internet, great! If someone's manufacturing cabs and selling them with a registered copy of GameEx, their taking money out of our pockets and we want to know about it. Just be honest, you're not on trial here bud.

Sorry mate I dont mean to sound dodgy. I didnt purchased the key myself as before I got the cab up and running I had never even heard of Gameex. I purchased the cab as a mame cab from the internet which is a used old William Hill touch screen betting cab thats been stripped and converted. This is no way connected to anyone manufacturing cabs so hope that answers your questions, if not then let me know.

thanks

I understand mate, honestly I wasnt trying to be difficult, I just didnt think it would be right naming a person on a public forum.

Right so now I just need the help.

Btw I notice if you purchase the software you get updates for certain amount of time, how can I tell what version I have to see if its well out of date or not?

thanks

If you sent a file to Brian, then we will need to wait for him to review it and respond.

Anyone.......

Colin,

Thanks for getting that info over to me. I have forwarded it to Tom as he is the one that generates all the keys and should be able to tell as long as it was not edited.

I aplogize I did not get back to you sooner but I have been flying across the country on business and this is a hobby and I just didn't have the oppertunity.

I would also like to take a moment and tell you the version you are using probably will not expire tommorow and until we know for sure I would refrain from updates.

Additionally I hope you will find a home here at Gameex like many of us have, we are an open community and Tom is always updaing his software and providing new features and user support.

If you see the value in that and can contribute 25 bucks for your own individual (non shared) key, then please by all means get your own.

There was a point in time where some keys were shared and Gameex almost ceased to exist, the developer(s) and forum members alike put alot of love into this product and its one of the best out there (probably the reason it was on the cab you got).

Gameex does also have a FREE version that is missing a few features but also availble for the people on the fence about purchasing it, I used it for a while even.

If you want an honest responce, we feel it is a slap in the face when someone gives away our product. Gameex has never made anyone rich, we are not microsoft. It does hurt when someone is profiting off the software becuase the develpoers never see a dime.

If it was private purchase its most likely ok. I just wanted to ensure if was not a company.

Its nice to know you guys care and help so much though. Im a little overwhelmed by how much you all stepped in.

Cheers.

Tom.

Ok great! Let's get you running! :)

First your SNES issue. You need to make sure you set up ZSNES to work outside of GameEx. Then we'll need to point GameEx at the directory you installed it in.

Let's just be sure it runs without GameEx first. Click the zsnes.exe and play around with it, map your controllers, etc and we'll go from there.

Abit late now as off to bed but will play about with it tomorrow.

Im happy to purchase a licence for my own use but obviously want to make sure it does everything Im expecting or wanting it to do so rest assured if I get this working then I will buy my own licence, im all for supporting everyone and it wasnt my intention to come on here to mislead anyone which is why I quite willingly sent the registry files so that we can sort this out.

OK I will leave this until tomorrow and then maybe you can help me get these emulators working on it as so far im quite impressed with what it seems to be able to do.

One thing though I notice theres only about 5 Emulator groups and another 40+ extra buttons to link games or emulators too but that doesnt seem enough or can you add more or maybe im doing something wrong.......anyway now ive been given the ok to talk too we can tackle it tomorrow.

thanks again for your help so far.

Colin
