I installed a new video card and it uses the Catalyst software from ATI. I had GameEx set to run at startup and everything was fine, but now this Catalyst software has a little startup window (only pops up for a split second, then goes away) when my computer starts just as GameEx is launching and it sends my computer back to the desktop screen. Very annoying.... Anyone know a fix for this??

I would suggest checking through the software options. Sounds like it is loading it's configuration utility (the Control Center, not the driver) and causing GameEx to lose focus. From the documentation I found here, you are not required to load the control center software. Unless you are using it, I would perhaps try uninstalling the Catalyst Control Center and see if this remedies your problem.

There is also an Omega version of the driver that will likely remove all unneeded "features" automatically. This is a hacked driver, but I've been using them for years without issue so I consider them safe.

I did uninstall the catalyst software, Draco was right, it is seperate from the drivers. Problem solved. Just had a chance to try it out and my startup is back to "normal". Thanks for the help.

That is great news! I will mark this issue as resolved. Heh, like a discombobulated analog chronometer, I am correct twice diurnally! For those easily confuzzled, that's "like a broken clock I am right twice a day." B)

Strange, I use CCC and it has never popped up a splash screen on me?

Nor I. If it's conflicting then I would just disable it to run on startup so that the tools are still there for the video card. I wouldn't have uninstalled it. Then again, it depends on the requirements of the user. I myself use CCC.

The suggestion to uninstall was to rule out any other conflicts and see if this remedied the issue, which it did. Since it is a newer card, I assume that this is the latest version of CCC. Now if he prefers to have it installed, if someone can provide guidance on where to disable to splash screen or run on startup, I am sure it will be appreciated! B)
