OK Draco... Since I want to enter my WOPR theme, but can't make a decision on which type of logos to move forward with, I'll pose the question here, and see what type of feedback I get from the community... So, in thinking of WarGames, I've currently looking at 3 choices for moving forward with logos:

1) Outline style images

2) Color images with sharp scan lines

3) Color images with soft scan lines

FYI. All of my pre-drawn text has scanlines in it.

I've included my examples for the jukebox. Please chime in and let me know which one(s) you like better, and which one(s) you think fit better with the WOPR theme. OR... if you have another idea for a style, let me know that as well.

I personally prefer #3. Although #2 seems more vivid, for some reason I can't explain I feel like #3 seems more like it was projected on a military screen in a conference room (not sure that's what you were going for, that's just what I thought about right away).

Since most classic "military" displays tend towards monochromatic displays (usually green screen - green phosphor text on black background for the youngsters) I find myself drawn to the outline image, however, I also like 3 - soft scan lines as this is what I envision more modern systems using.

Since WOPR was during the early 80's when monochrome phosphor screens were all the rage, I think I would prefer 1 to be in keeping with the genre. Is it possible to perform a soft scan line effect on the line drawing? It appears to have one already but would be curious to see how it would appear.

Thanks for the feedback Adultery & Draco.

Part of my dilemma is that the movie uses different types of displays... All of the computer terminals at the Norad base have the green monochrome displays. The main characters home computer has a black & white monitor, but the white has a tint of blue in it. And the War room displays at Norad have nice color vector graphics displays.

I'll look at outlines w/scanlines to see what I think as well.

I would go with the War Room with the color vector outline graphics to be in keeping with the War Room displays.

I have gotten side-tracked... as usually happens! I started looking online for wire-frame images for consoles, but didn't find much... I experimented with pulling SketchUp models down, displaying in wire-frame mode with hidden lines, and exporting the image... The results varied based on how many curves the object has... And, to top it off, I also started messing with creating a Tron Legacy theme (selected bar attached)...

It will get there... slowly...

Now that's clever right there! Especially if the biker moves! :)

Here are a few images that I was hording for a potential Tron Legacy project - got so far as to create a few bezel files. You are welcome to use whatever you want/need.

@Adultery - I was thinking of having the cycle move, but since the Selected sequences up and down, the bike would move back and forth. I'm not sure I like it moving backwards... Currently, I just animate the trace behind the cycle.

@Draco - Thanks for sharing the images. Looks like you improved the Recognizer quite a bit!

@Draco - I'm getting closer to my process to make my logos... Is it alright with you if I use your logos as a starting point? And if so, is it easy for you to release versions without the reflection and gradient? Don't go and do a lot of work if it's a manual process... But when I'm processing the images, it doesn't maintain the proper alpha on the layers. I can compensate for it on the images without a foreground image on the bottom, but not those with... Here are a few of samples of what I'm working towards.

Unfortunately, I did not maintain the logos without the gradient, however, there is a way of cheating it! First, I would recommend downloading Logo Pack 4 if you haven't already. Next, using the PSD or XCF files (PhotoShop or GIMP), save the images with the pure black background selected. When you save as a PNG file, it will cause the layers to merge. You will end up with the logo and reflection, and no gradient (The gradient is actually a dissolve from pure black - hex value 000000). Hope this helps!
