  1. Is this an automatic update? or manual? My machine isnt updating with ethernet attached.
  2. Well, the whole "scuppered" thing is because GameEx would only present lightgun games to me, whilst having a full Mame RomSet. No matter what I did. I was convinced I had done something wrong and it was only when digging on the net that I put two and two together that I discovered that the latest version had been "optimised" for touch screen devices... Meaning that my second Wacom Cintiq display counted as touch screen saw me only listing light gun games. Quite maddening to say the least. This literally took me a whole day to track down. I had no idea why this was happening. To define this in a user experience way, it would be nice to know what the new update is doing... perhaps detect if we are updating and then display the GameEx menu?
  3. Only whining like a bitch because I've wasted so much time getting caught up with errors Must be running into 12+ hours of setup errors, mainly because of the previous touch screen update which scuppered me. However, thanks for the update, I shall give it blast right now.
  4. Yes, I am from the UK. Please provide a fix ASAP. I'm starting to feel like a beta tester.
  5. Also, I should note that trying to uninstall GameEx 12.22 on XP reports that I am unable to install the application because I am not on a 64bit version of windows? Furthermore, the setup wizard softcrashes at multiple points due to NULL strings when setting up external emulators. Seriously? WTF? Am I the only person using this software? Are there this many errors? So far I have had the worst user experience ever, doubled or even quadrupled by the fact that I've paid for this. Seriously starting to regret going with this install.
  6. Here's a picture of the cab, for those who might be interested!
  7. Sure, I have a WiFi card ordered, but is it a requirement of GameEx to have connection to internet? I have several powerline connectors but these are not convienient. I have a metal cabinet with no holes for exit of extra cables other than power and I would like to keep it that way. Having said all of this, I doubt how much success I will have with a WiFi card inside of a metal cabinet. Somehow I feel that I'm in the minority here!
  8. OK, so with the very latest version, which I have already had a whole load of problems with the touch screen update (if anybody remembers?) Anyhoo... Just installed into a standalone machine with XP SP3, did the web update and whatnot and now upon boot after about 20 seconds I get a dialog with "Failed Download" This is made more annoying because I just replaced my XP default shell with GameEx. Furethermore, this seems to happen every 20 seconds, even more annoying. Entering a game and exiting causes this to happen, or even leaving it idle. I have disabled automatic updates in the setup wizards. This renders the machine useless as it does not (yet) have wifi or a permenant ethernet. I have to open it up and connect a keyboard and mouse to sort this out, every time I go in and out of a game. Thanks in advance for any help and advice! PS, although I am able to connect this machine to ethernet, which I did for the update, I do not have the capability to do so 100% of the time without dragging ethernet string around the house.
  9. Yes, sorry. I meant to say "Auto" Blimey, I've only ever used GameEx about 6 months ago for about 5 minutes to test it out. I've come to do a full blown install on a fresh PC with "TouchScreen" and this completely threw me! Its very probable that this will cause problems for other people with touchscreen pc's that are desktop models too. Oh well, everything is working just fine now! Time to get this into a machine!
  10. I've had no end of problems with this update due to the touchscreen settings... as detailed in this thread : http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=10543&st=0&gopid=80822entry80822 To prevent anybody else from suffering the same problems, I will detail the problem and the solution here: The latest update includes table PC options and the default is set to ON I have a two monitor setup with my second monitor being a Wacom Cintiq Tablet that has pen input, i.e a touchscreen. With the default options I could only see light gun games. Disabling the touch screen settings in the wizard fixed this problem and all is well now! Many thanks to fRequEnCy who I was chatting with trying to fix this problem.
  11. Being no expert on GameEx its taken me since 9am this morning (its now 18:31) to figure out what was wrong with my setup. The latest update includes table PC options and the default is set to ON I have a two monitor setup with my second monitor being a Wacom Cintiq Tablet that has pen input, i.e a touchscreen. This is why I could only see light gun games. Disabling the touch screen settings in the wizard fixed this problem and all is well now! Many thanks to fRequEnCy who I was chatting with trying to figure out what on earth was going wrong!
  12. Ok, many thanks... I'm in the cat room right now
  13. Not sure what you mean about auditing? If I double click Mame from c:\emulaters\mame then it shows the 5 roms I've placed and they all work 100% ok.
  14. Yes, I have done this about 20 or 30 times today to no avail. Honestly, I am either doing something really stupid here or there is a bug of some sort. I even tried editing the gamelist.txt by hand and removing all games apart from the Flicky roms which were installed and then GameEx proudly said there were no games available. Its probably worth noting that if I then enabled Mame under emulated games the games do show up, but none of the videos were there.. Is there some other method of describing videos when using Mame in this other method? I'm using Mame of the main menu in GameEx. Its also worth noting that when I ran a handful of ROMS using this seconds method if I played Flicky (which worked by the way) it also had an option under "other systems" for Mame... Flicky then appeared in last game played under normal Mame but I still cannot search for Flicky or find it in any category and I am still plagued by lightgun games only
  15. OK, deleted everything. Downloaded latest GameEx, reinstalled. EXACTLY the same symptoms. With just those ROMS in my Mame dir GameEx lists a bunch of light gun games that I DONT HAVE! Furthermore, it DOESNT list the ROMS I DO have. I've wasted a whole day trying to set this up, it just doesnt seem logical at all. Can anybody at all shed any light on this?
  16. And here's a combined photo of my ROMS dir and what I actually see inside of GameEx after rebuilding the Game list.

  18. I paid for and registered GameEx approx 6 months back, unfortunately I've only just gotten around to running this and trying to set everything up. It seems no matter what I do I cannot get GameEx to list my Mame ROMS properly at all. All that happens is that I get a list of light gun games and thats it. I get the same list if I have the Mame ROMS present or not... No matter what I do. I've re-downloaded Mame to C:\emulators\mame and simply placed five or six roms in there and I STILL get the same gun games, only this time without any icons or artwork etc... and they obviously dont launch. I have a complete Mame 0142 collection and I've recompiled Mame myself to miss out the nag screens etc... If I double click that it lists all the roms and I can type a rom name and press return to play it. All working fine. To reiterate my problem. GameEx will not list my ROMS and I ALWAYS get a list of lightgun games even if I dont have those ROMS present when I rebuild the list. I'm completely stumped here and I've spent pretty much the last 5 hours trying to get this to work with absolutely no luck. Rebuilding the list on the full set takes an ice age and its only since I've just tried a small test case with a handful of ROMS thats made me realise that I'm either doing something stupid or there's some sort of bug in GameEx. Can anybody help at all? Configs and whatnot pasted below. Thanks in advance for any help or advice! Emu Config GameEx.ini
