  1. Many thanks Tom.
  2. Chaps, with all the problems I've had I simply decided to write my own frontend and media player. This way I can only moan at myself when it goes wrong. Sorry for any hissy fits and good luck with GameEx. Link to WIP video :
  3. Sure thing, can do. I beleive this is only one of the problem's I've been having though. I think there are two other different types of issues I've seen with the screensaver.
  4. OK, here's a .ini and a .log showing something useful 11:40:02.1 11/18/2011: Starting Attract Mode 11:40:02.1 11/18/2011: Reading MAME hall of fame 11:40:02.4 11/18/2011: Shutting down display 11:40:02.5 11/18/2011: Exception occured running Attract Mode 11:40:02.5 11/18/2011: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. 11:40:02.6 11/18/2011: at a.ᜄ(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2) 11:40:02.6 11/18/2011: at a.ᜅ() 11:40:02.6 11/18/2011: at a.ᜃ(Boolean A_0) The screen saver tried to start when GameEx had been booted with no user input, playing a random movie from the multimedia collection. 5. Sure thing, I've just seen a machine reset crash when pressing an input during the screen saver, I emmediately retrieved the logs but they are not showing anything speicial. log and config attached. However, from fresh boot after retrieving these GameEx booted, started playing a random movie and then, after approx 2 minutes it has crashed with a log. I beleive this is when the Mame screen saver would have kicked in? Perhaps this crash is related to the screensaver kicking in when its playing the initial random movie, when I say movie, I dont mean a Mame preview, I mean an actual Movie from the multimedia directory. I'm using the Shark codec pack. screensavercrashes.zip
  6. Yeah, sure, I have thumb drives a plenty. I've picked up a wifi card for this machine so will setup remote desktop asap.
  7. I can read it perfectly fine? Might be the size of your web browser. Its basically crashing trying to render a DirectX 3D sprite... Maybe you need to download the attachment and view it in an external viewer? I can get the text when this machine is next hooked up to a network, providing its still there? Does it get overwritten? I saw this crash three times in a row and never since then!
  8. Hang about, is the screensaver actually loading Mame?
  9. The plot thickens... I've had the machine playing some movies for my daughter today and the screen saver has kicked in 3 times. 2 of these were reset crashes (pressing joystick left to exit with a JPac) and the third gave me an error log. Possibly related to playing movies, can't be 100% sure but I have definetaly not loaded any games at all today. Also, no coins have been entered either. Error log is attached.
  10. The resolution was a speedy fix from Tom Latest updated fixed the problem.
  11. Not sure what state the machine was in. I beleive that I just left it on one of the GameEx menus.
  12. I've recompiled Mame to not have nags etc... I'm pretty sure it's exited before though. I will keep an eye on it and report back.
  13. I have just left my newly biult machine alone for 20 minutes and the game screensaver kicked in. Thing is, I couldnt exit by pressing any buttons... I'm running off a JPac with no mouse or regular keyboard. Game video was playing on a loop with a snippet about the game at the bottom of the screen. I have yet to recreate this but thought I would post here first to see if this is a known problem? GameEx was updated this morning.
  14. Actually, that is something that I was wondering about myself. It seems that by default there is no theme set. Many thanks, selecting a theme fixes this problem
  15. Many thanks, I would be interested to know why this only seems to be affecting me though
  16. Yes, just by running GameExSetup.exe
  17. Here is my GameEx.ini I don't have any file on this machine called GameEx.log, do I have to turn logging on? GameEx.zip
  18. Yes, problem solved was referring to the download failed message that popped up every 20 seconds. I will post these two files in a moment.
  19. Poking around with Process Monitor reveals two files that the setup Wizard can't find 09:32:17.6635999 SetupWizard.exe 8820 QueryDirectory C:\GameEx\SetupWizard.INI NO SUCH FILE Filter: SetupWizard.INI 09:32:55.0092595 SetupWizard.exe 8820 QueryDirectory C:\GameEx\Interop.DvdCore.INI NO SUCH FILE Filter: Interop.DvdCore.INI Not sure if these are important or needed? Which file is causing these parse errors? If you let me know which file it is I could post it here as an attachment.
  20. This happens if I launch from the Start menu, the icon is a shortcut. The screenshots from Win7 were specifically launched from the start menu. I can edit any of the settings and they reflect in GameEx so presumably the setup wizrd is finding GameEx.ini just fine?
  21. OK machine updated, problem solved. Sorry for moaning so much, many thanks.
  22. Please see this thread : http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=10578
  23. There are "soft" crashes in the setup wizard which I have seen on three different installs of Windows, XP and Win7 flavours. "Soft" as in you can continue, I'm guessing the wizard is written in .net or something like that? Photos are attatched from a Win7 install and also an XP install, both are fresh installs. Recreation steps are basically click "Advanced" and then click through all the pages which will crash on the pages in the photos. For reference I have two external emulators (Snes9x and Atari 2600) installed as well as Mame which were downloaded and installed via the setup wizard.
  24. Sorry if I came across in the wrong way... but its nothing short of infuriating checking through the settings and configs for hours only to find that its actually a bug. RE: Config crashes, I will post these in a new thread. This happens on a fresh XP install and also a fresh Win7 install. It also happened on my old machine as well.
  25. Oki doki, will have to wait till tomorrow now... Circumstances are this machine doesnt have access till then. Cheers
