  1. I am having the same issue. I had configured the mame machine a few months ago, just finally finished the cabinet this weekend. Things were running nice and snappy for a few days. Then I plugged into the internet and it auto upgraded and now all screens are very slow. I tried messing with the "Reduce CPU Utilization (MS)" setting under tweeks. I initially had to set this to 15 to make the system usable when I first installed. Adjusting it up and down now didn't seem to make much difference. I'm running a 2.8 GHz P4.
  2. amos.. I should have checked that first, before busting in on your thread. All 1024x768 themes act this way for me. Any thoughts here would be appreciated. I'll probably create a new thread for this issue soon though. Thanks. FYI... after further research, it appears my TV is having a problem with that resolution... I get the same effect if I just set the windows resolution to 1024x768. I'm normally running windows at 1368x768. Good news is your theme is not the problem.
  3. I need a little help on this theme... I'm not sure how to descibe the issue. It runs askew on my tv. The far right hand side of the theme is in the middle of my tv and the mouse stops in the middle. moving the mouse left across the theme, it disapears on the left had side of the tv and reapears on the right hand side... any thoughts? Love the look of the theme though... very nice quality job. FYI... I tried the 800x600 version and it works just fine... it's only the 1024x768 that is giving me problems. I'd still like to find a resolution. Thanks.
  4. Tom, Thanks for taking the time to post that section of the doc. I know it can be very frustrating answering the questions you've already taken the time to answer. I will try those setting tonight and let you know how it goes. I will also read through the doc again as it appears I obviously missed some important sections. I do like Michael's idea of making the these setting default or if that's not feasable, maybe just a note on one of the install screens. Seems like a pretty important piece of the configuration.
  5. Checked my Game Extender setting and it was alread off... On the brighter side, things are a little better after an automatic update tonight. Also the CPU usage seems very dependant on the theme. When running the Default - Default theme CPU now hovers between 50% and 60%... but when switching to the Default - BlueEx - Arcade800x600 theme, CPU never really gets above 25% and things are nice and snappy...
  6. Thanks for the tip... I'll give it a try when I get home tonight. Can you tell me where in the config to find it?
  7. I too see this issue on my P4 2.8... thought that would be more than enough guts to run a menu system, but it pretty much cranks my CPU up to between 95% and 100% while GameEx is just sitting there... alt tab away from GameEx and the utilization drops to nothing. What is GameEx doing while it has focus? With the CPU cranked, the menu system is very sluggish as are some HTPC features in GameEx like trying to view picture slide shows. Here's some other specs just in case they are useful. CPU: P4 2.8 GHz RAM: 512 MB Video: Geforce4 256MB Sound: SBLive 5.1 OS: XP Pro SP2 All patches and drivers are completely up to date. Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated...
