  1. I just ran GameEx Lite but there are no video previews of the games. Video's should be visible in GameEx Lite? For me no problem, as I use only full version of GameEx.
  2. I opened the catver.ini and it was full of entries. GameEx uses the catver.ini file from the DATA folder. Could my theme be the cause? The other options, like by year and by manufacturer are working.
  3. No, I did not use GameEx Lite. After a re-installation and configuration of GameEx, I launched the full version, selected the game and Viewpoint worked again. Don't know what caused it, but I rather play Viewpoint than trying to figure out what the problem was
  4. I re-installed GameEx and now it just works fine! Thanks guys for your help. It's now time to play Viewpoint
  5. I now use a theme that displays the 'By category', 'By year, 'By manufacturer' options. It works, but the 'Category' is blanc. I used the catver.ini from the DATA folder. Anyone a idea why Categories is blanc? The ini file is filled and I've configured GameEx to this file
  6. Tonight I tried the things that were suggested. None of them resulted in a solution. 1) I added the controls.ini file and configured GameEx to use this file. Made no difference. 2) I used MAME .153 instead of the newest release of MAME. Made no difference. I'm using .154 again. 3) The 'Run Last Game' option. Useless in this case. Let me clarify. I launched Viewpoint in GameEx and it exited immediately. I closed GameEx, opened the runitgame.bat file. The file was empty, it was 0 bytes. This does not occur with other rom files that are launching just fine. So the launch of Viewpoint goes wrong before GameEx can write to the batch file. It must be right after launching the game As mentioned before, I do not have this problem with GameEx Lite. The downside of Lite is that there are no video previews. A fix for that would also be a solution.
  7. The strange thing is that 'Viewpoint' - among others, will work with CMD and GameEx Lite. Only with GameEx the game will not launch. So this tells me that MAME and the rom are okay. Has to be something with GameEx. Could the missing file controls.ini the cause of it? It's not a logical cause. I could use GameEx Lite, but there are no preview video's of the games. I don't like that. And indeed, Viewpoint is a cool game
  8. Hi guys, I have a lot of MAME roms that won't launch with GameEx but do launch with CMD. For example the game 'Viewpoint'; it launches fine with MAME in CMD without command line options. But in GameEx, the game will not launch. If I select the game, the screen goes black for a quick moment and then returns to GameEx. Other MAME roms will launch in GameEx but there are many that won't. I tried it with and without MAME command line options in GameEx. Did not make a difference. All the paths are correct. The same executable and paths are used in CMD. I have attached the GameEx.ini, mame.ini and the GameEx log file in this post. Hope anyone can figure it out? GameEx version: 13.27 MAME version: 0.154 Roms version: 1.53 Thanks, Michel << UPDATE!! >> The rom 'Viewpoint' will launch with GameEx Lite. I haven't tested it, but I pressume the rest of the roms also will launch with GameEx Lite. But with this solution comes a different problem: With GameEx Lite there are no video previews in the games list. Is that a setting in GameEx Lite or in my theme? If I could get the video previews back again, this solution with GameEx Lite version would be fine with me. GameEx.ini log.txt mame.ini
  9. The gun basically acts like a mouse and there is no, to very little lag (not noticeable to me anyway). Of course, if you move the gun very fast and with big movements, the led bar maybe can't process the movements as fast as you move with the gun. For the most shooting games you have to aime acurate, so you will not make big and fast movements anyway. To go short: I played for about 15 minutes and had no problems with lag. A factor for lagging is also - I presume, the hardware setup (CPU, GPU, memory). I have a 1.8 Dualcore and a 4 year old mid-range GPU. The accuracy of the gun is good, no problem there. You have to calibrate the gun only once. Installing the gun and led bar is just plug & play actually. I had some problems with MAME though, but that had nothing to do with the gun. Once I removed AdvanceMAME, the gun worked great in MAME. Maybe I had not configured AdvanceMAME properly, I really don't know. I'll figure that out later. The gun has really a great fun factor for me. I'm even considering buying a second gun. But to my opinion, the Arcade Lightgun from Ultimarc is a bit too expensive. The gun is entirely made of plastic. It's solid and strong, not like some 10 dollar water gun from your local toystore. But beyond this, no fancy stuff. The fabrication of the gun, the led bar and the electronics is so much cheaper than the selling price (100,- euro's). But to me, the fun factor beats the price.
  10. Yes, I did. There where some other commands in the Mame options box, but I removed those commands to be sure. That's right, I have a working mame.ini file. The gun works outside GameEx so the mame.ini must be okay. I'll try to use the '-readconfig' in the MAME options field of the setup-wizard. If that doesn't work, I'll will post the GameEX.ini file. For the next couple of days I do not have the time for trying to solve this problem. As soon I have any result, I'll post it in this thread. By the way, the gun is a lot of fun! I did not play much, but shooting a little bit around was great Only the price was ugly: 100,- euro's for one 1 gun and a led bar... Thanks guys,
  11. Hi guys, Today I plugged in the Arcade Lightgun from Ultimarc on my arcade cabinet. I configured and calibrated the gun and it works like a charm. But only if I execute MAME on the commandline, like 'mame [gamename] -lightgun'. When I use Gameex, the gun will not work, although I executed every step in Ultimarcs manual: I altered mame.ini and configured the gun in the MAME menu. I tried the MAME commandline options in GameEx but it makes no difference, the gun is still not working. What am I missing? The lightgun works okay, untill the moment the Mame game is loaded. So, MAME via commandline = fun with lightgun. MAME via GameEx = no lightgun
  12. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the Object Browser? I cannot drag&drop objects from there onto the canvas. How can I add or delete objects / items from the canvas? At the Mame All games list, I want to add the 'By category', 'By year, 'By manufacturer' menu. How can I do that?
  13. Thanks guys. I played a bit with the theme editor and the gameex wizard and things are getting more clear now. One thing though, how can you get objects from the Objects Browsers onto the canvas? Or do I have to use the .ini files to accomplish that?
  14. Hi, I'm trying to design my own theme based on the 'GameroomEX v2' theme. Some things I can't figure out: 1) The 'edit' button in Theme Editor is not working. Known problem or is it my configuration (Win 7). If it is working, what does it do? 2) Is it possible to adjust the menu-structure of a theme? It's a bit unclear to me how I can change the structure and delete items. Do I have to use GameEx or Theme Editor for doing so? How do the two programs relate to each other anyway? 3) I assume that Theme Editor is a bit out-dated? Gr. Michel
