Ok, so that works part of the time. If my video file has no spaces between words (2046.avi) it works great. but if the file does have any spaces or parenthasis or anything, vlc gets hung up. I've noticed in the emulator section the ability to replace spaces with underscores or whatever, is that what I need to do in the multimedia section? If so...how do I go about it? I haven't seen the option. Also, I'm not completely stuck on vlc, if saomeone has another suggestion of a better video player that can play a lot of different formats and supports subtitles and multiple audio/video streams, im all ears.

How to create game lists for emulators

so I need to set up the iso loader just to have the files show up in the saturn list under sff? -
Im trying to set up VLC to play videos through Game EX and when I do, here's what I get File reading failed: VLC could not open the file "C:\GameEx\[path]\\dell\movies\video\movies\2046\2046.avi". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/GameEx%2F%5Bpath%5D//dell/movies/video/movies/2046/2046.avi'. Check the log for details. now, my video is over the network, and the actual path to it is //dell/movies/2046/2046.avi I have my command as c:/program files (x86)/videoLan/vlc/vlc.exe [PATH] I'm absolutely positive my problem is in the command line, I just have no idea how to fix it. Any ideas?

How to create game lists for emulators
drunkenpirateking replied to drunkenpirateking's topic in General
So, just to update I've gotten all of my rom based emulators working wonderfully and I'm really feeling like this is coming together. However, for epxse and ssf (so any sort of image based file), I've got everything set the same as my other emulators but I still can't seem to get the files to list in game ex? Is there anything special I should be doing for these? -

Ok, so I got my snes stuff to show up, but when i try to launch it goes blank like it's launching and then goes back to the game list. I'm using zsnes, which works fine. So I imagine i need to start looking at how zsnes is configured inside of game ex, right? -

Yes, everything is in zip or 7z format except the isos for playstation etc, but I'll deal with those next. -
How to create game lists for emulators
drunkenpirateking replied to drunkenpirateking's topic in General
I should also mention that I've set my rom filter to *.7z *.zip *.smc. And I don't see where to turn off the rom in folder option, though I'm looking. -
Yay I'm back! ha. I'm sure this has been covered and I've been searching for it, though I'm sure I'm just not using the right terminology yet. I loaded up a few emulators, say zsnes, and set the rom paths to my snes rom folder, loaded up game ex and there are no roms listed. When I set mame up it did this and I just hit the update list button and it listed everything and all the roms works good, but I don't see the create list button in the emulator section. From what I can tell I either need to create/update a list or map file, I'm just not sure how to go about it. The FAQ says it creates the map file automatically, and I've found the zsnes map file but the games are listed wrong (wrong title format). How do I go about updating that?

Everything just hangs at the nag screen
drunkenpirateking replied to drunkenpirateking's topic in General
Aha! It wasn't a driver issue, far as I can tell. After numerous driver updates and game ex not working, I went through and deleted all my microsoft visual stuff for x86 (I'm running x64, which I kept) and viola, works like a charm. To be honest, I'm not sure why I had installed the x86 versions. Is there actually any advantage for running x86 visual stuff on an x64 machine? Either way, yay. Finally I get to test this stuff out. Thanks for all the help, I'm sure I'll have another question in the next hour. haha. -
Everything just hangs at the nag screen
drunkenpirateking replied to drunkenpirateking's topic in General
Ok, I just tried installing gameex on another machine and it worked like a charm, no problem whatsoever. The first thing I noticed was the audio. maybe the game machines just never got that far, but I'm on the search for updating all my mobo drivers. Also, in trying to get pcsx2 to work a couple days back, I installed every form of visual basic and direct x i could find multiple times (like a dolt). Should I worry about that? -

Ah. Ok. So the problem is with the keyboard hook? Is there anything I can do about that? -

firewall, antivirus and windows updates turned off. Still nothing. Also, esc. should close the program, right? Because it doesn't, I have to close it in the Task Manager. -

Yes, I'm using a keyboard for the time being. As stupid as this may be...do I have to hit something at the nag screen to get past it? I've tried every key on the keyboard, but is there something I may be missing? -

I'm sorry, I must sound like an absolute blithering idiot. I think I'm juggling too much stuff at once, so I 'm going to concentrate on GameEx for right now. I downloaded 11.71, which is the version on the download page of the gameex site. I don't see any means to update. To be clear, I haven't gotten past the nag screen ever, it's not like I had it working, upgraded and then it stopped. From what I gather it should ask me to update once I've gotten it started? -

oh whoa. Sorry, I was talking about something else. I'm currently building this computer and dealing with lots of software and got confused. Yes, I was talking about hyperspin, which I'm also trying but am kind of unimpressed with. Anyway, it was a direct download from the site, so it'd be 11.74. -

This was a direct download of 1.0, then I applied both the 1.1 and 1.2 updates. However, I ended up deleting everything, then just trying the 1.0 and got the same result, for what it's worth. Is there any more information y'all need from me? -
I cannot seem to get past the nag screen. I've tried a lot of stuff, letting it sit for a really long time, hitting buttons, etc etc. Only the "1" button works that brings me to the donation page.
