  1. Hey Nologic, Thanks alot for that help. It worked great. I've attached my map file. I my folders are probably named differently, but I never renamed anything, they are all straight from the downloads. I did just realize though that when you start a song through the command line you don't get a chance to pick the difficulty. I'm sure that will be fixed sometime in a future release of the mod. Thanks again for the help. Anyone interested in doing the same thing; You can get Frets On Fire HERE And the Mod Needed to use the command line is HERE
  2. I've been messing around with FretOnFire (Guitar Hero Clone) and I want to use GameEx to browse the song list instead of the games built Slow browser. The songs are all stored in their own Folders and inside that folder there are a few files but nothing with the songs name besides the folder, so in the GameEx configuration there is nothing I can Filter. And GameEx doesn't see the folders so I get an empty List. I even tried zipping a few up with with 7zip, which enables me to filter and then see a list, but GameEx doesn't uncompress the file so Frets gives me an error. The command line to start the song without going through the game is ; fretsonfire.exe -p "folder" so I have fretsonfire.exe -p "[ROMFile]" as the command line is GameEx but again it doesn't see folders so it just does nothing. (After writing this out I'm starting to think this was a dumb idea, but I do have tons of songs and the game only lets you browse one at a time so it can really take forever to find something to play)
  3. Thanks its working great. The little control panel comes up in front of the screen but its nothing one mouse click doesn't fix. As for the Mic's I actually have 2 mics hooked up to a splitter. They're real karaoke mics. But when I first hooked them up I also noticed that the volume was was too low. In my windows audio mixer I actually have a Mic Boost check box that seems to have fixed it, but not every soundcard has that. I tried other mics and some were better then others so I would try out a few if you can. Thanks again for the file.
  4. Hi PimpDaddyStu, I've been using the script you made up top for awhile now and it's great. But recently I ran into a problem with KaraFun. I have some songs that come in an MPG movie. And for some reason the script no longer works properly when only the MPG movies come on. I used Autoit3 (used it once or twice but I have NOOO Idea what I'm doing, its more trial and error) to check out your script and edit it but nothing works. I think the problem is that the Window Title for MPG files changes from "KaraFun3" to the actual name of the file being played. Also the "Class" is not "Direct3d" but something that starts with "TKFNViewFrmfilename" Like I said I have no idea how any of this works but those are the differences I found. I tried to edit your script to call on the "Class" but honestly I don't know how to pass on the GameEx parameters to the compiled script. (Like once I have the exe I don't know how to get it to open "[RomPath]\[RomFile]" Anyways if you could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Hope I gave you a good chuckle with my in depth Non-Knowledge of coding Phantom

    YAC Listener

I did find this one (WHOISIT) and it does pop up but it flashes over GameEX. I guess its not really an overlay so theres no way to make it play nicely. I'll just have to keep trying out the different listeners out there to see if any work well. Thanks

    YAC Listener

I've been messing around with YAC (Caller ID Software) and its great. I have a server running YAC sending all the Caller ID to everyone of my PCs... Except for my Arcade. I know GameEx has a caller ID plugin but with YAC I have my modem in one computer and the others don't have one. I tried the default YAC Listener with GameEX but when the Caller ID pops up, it minimizes GAMEEX. How does the Caller ID Plugin work? It it just an over lay and does it show up while playing games? I'm no coder so theres no chance of me getting a Listener for gameex unless other people are interested and someone else has some free time. Anyone know of anything that exists already, or any other options? Just tossing it out there. Thanks

    MAME Folders

Hey Adultery, How do you go about making the lists? I'd love to have a list for games more suitable for Kids but have no clue how to do it.
  8. You ROCK thanks. I always wondered what those Icons Meant.
  9. I want to change the order that my Emulators are in. I've installed so many to test that now that I want to keep them in order of Machine. I tried changing the EMU_numbers and [EMULATOR Number] in the gameex.ini file but it did nothing. Is there some other file I can edit to do this?
  10. Ok how do I go about useing the No-Intro Dat files to clean out my roms? their forums don't really say anything.
  11. No I'm using hacked ps2 controllers that are hooked up via Playstation to USB converters. For some reason Windows always sets my main controller to ID#4 so I'm forced to use JOYtoKey for some emulators.
  12. is there a way to edit the controller config file for a certain game (ZSNES V2.ini) to have different buttons for more then one controller. My cabinet is made up of different controllers and not all the buttons are mapped properly or the same, so for DAPHNE games I need to map buttons on Joystick#4 not the default one. Daphne has built in Joystick support but from what I've found its only for Joystick#1. I like using JOYTOKEY but for GAMEX I can't get it to start and close with Daphne since it doesn't have the usual "Launch Before" or "Launch After" Help?!?!
  13. does anyone know of or have a "HOW TO" on using CLRMAME to rename and sort VISUAL PINBALL files. I have a ton of tables and roms but most won't work without having to manually renaming them and moving them to different folders. I found DAT files to use but since I haven't used CLRMAME in ages i can't remember how to do it all. My biggest issue i guess is how to get it CLRMAME to see the VPT files. A bonus would be to rename the screen shots to the same as the table so GAMEX could use them as SNAPS. Any Info would be appreciated Thanks
  14. Nothing wrong with GoodMerge at all. I love the fact that I have every game organized in unique 7z files and saving tons of HD space. My only problem is that in each of those 7z files there can be a ton of crap versions of a game. For example if I want to play Super Mario Bros. I have to hunt down a list of hacks and what not just to find the real version. So I'd like to have the real version BUT not permanently delete the hacks just in case one day I feel like playing SUPER AFRO BROS. I read about NO-INTRO but there doesn't seem to be a FOR DUMMIES guide anywhere.
  15. I understand thanks. Ya doubling up on the Emulators just to play crap versions doesn't sound too appealing to me so I'll just try to filter out the garbage. I'm messing around with RomCenter 2.71 and the NO-Intro dat files.. is there a faq or "how to" on how to keep the Real Version of a game and not the others. Or whats the best way to do it for Game EX? Thanks again
  16. I've been reading through the forum to find a solution for filtering out the Goodmerge Duplicates and I think I found it. (By using No-Intro Dat files) My question is if there is a way to have GAMEEX make a list of the games but have the ORIGINAL game listed first but keep the hacks and others separated but still playable ie; The screen would look something like this ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super Mario Bros. <-- would be the original and just click to play Other Versions <-- This would be the subcategory with different versions of the same game Boxart Title Cartart Game Description ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know if this is something that can be done in a theme (I use the VALHALLA theme) or something in the actual GAMEEX code. I spent so much time organizing all my games that I don't want to have to permanently remove them so this would be an awesome thing to have. Thanks in advance for the great Program, tweaks, hacks and all the rest.
  17. I'm no programer by any means, but I like the idea of a Joystick combonation to access a hidden menu. Awhie ago I made a DVD for a movie I made. The DVD menu system was pretty in depth. I wanted to add an easter egg to the DVD so what I did was added a hidden menu, that could only be accessed when you highlighted a certain button and then did the UP UP DWN DWN LFT RIGHT LFT RIGHT code. The way I can see it in Game Ex is to make the code work from the first item on the main pages list. Since when your at the top of the list you can go any higher and it won't loop down to the last item, you can there fore put 8 invisible buttons on top of the list in the codes sequence. Its sooo clear in my head but Its hard to explain. But I really think it would work perfect (as long as you could hide the hidden menu button from mouse activation or put it way off screen or something. You don't need a visual to know your on the button if you just know the code) I too would love to see this feature, I just wish I knew how to program..... Maybe I'll try edit a theme this week end. Sorry for the confusing post... Just finished a 12 shift :S
  18. Yes, everything is updated, sp2, and net framework 2. I'm just going to reinstall windows one last time and see if it happens again. Thanks
  19. I've tried everything I can think of but can't get GameEx to work. I have a fresh install of windows. The first time I installed GameEX on it, it ran fine. Now out of the blue it just stopped working. I keep getting this in the Log: 05:04:20.1 7/20/2006: GameEx: Version 6.49: Starting Log 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: Operating System Name: Windows XP 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: ERROR: An error occured while checking for previous instance of GameEx 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: This can be caused by a bad windows or .net framework install. 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: GameEx will likely function incorrectly as it cannot check for running processes 05:04:20.2 7/20/2006: GameEx will now exit with errors 05:04:20.3 7/20/2006: Error: 1 - Application-defined or object-defined error. 05:04:20.4 7/20/2006: ERRORS DETECTED: EXITING Not even the Configuration app will open. I have uninstalled/installed GameEx a dozen times, I did the same with NET FRAMEWORK, but its always the same thing. I even went through the registry to get rid of all GameEx entries and then reinstalled. I'm going to try to repair windows when I get home but I don't see how it could be that cause it seems fine. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there anything else I should be looking at? HELP!!! PLEASE Thanks
  20. Thanks, that did it. I didn't think it was a common thing (just something I did wrong) So I didn't search for it. Thanks Again
  21. Since we're on the topic..... I downloaded some of the Video Snaps from EMU, and they're encoded in DIVX. I put them in the right folder and they play in the stand alone player but in Game Ex, when I get to a game that has a Video Snap, Game Ex just minimizes back to the Desktop and all I get is sound from the Video. Is there some setting to enable Divx in Game Ex, cause other types of AVI's work fine. I have the divx decoder installed BTW. Thanks
  22. Same thing for me. It only happens when I reboot and Game Ex Auto starts. Then after closing the error and starting Game Ex up again, it works.
