  1. Happy Birthday GameEx! Been using it for 15 years and Not planning on switching anytime soon Thanks for helping relive some great memories Tom!
  2. Hey Draco1962 I figured it out. Had to dust the cobwebs off the DOS area of my brain, but I just ended up creating Batch files that called on the Sierra.exe files and it worked great. So for Leisure Suit Larry 5 I created a lsl5.bat file that had sierra.exe in it and that way I was able to name the Snap file LSL5. Also I'm running DOSBOX through Retroarch by the way. I'm trying to use Retroarch for all my different systems because I love using the Custom Bezels. Thanks for you help though. I appreciate it
  3. Hi, I just started messing with old Dos games with Dosbox. I have it running ok but I'm having an issue with Snaps. So I have a menu in GamEx that scans a DOS folder for *.exe's The problem is that many games are started with Sierra.exe so in my list many different games share the same Snap that's called Sierra. I can't rename the EXE because it breaks the game, I can't make shortcuts because Windows 10 has an issue making them for old programs (spent hours looking into it) I settled on using AutoHotKey but if I do something like (run, "E:\Games\PC\Dos Games\Commander Keen 1 Marooned on Mars (1990)\keen1.exe") it will load but then I'll be brought to the dos command prompt waiting to enter the proper command. Anyone have ideas on how to get around this? Thanks
  4. Hey Reddog, I tried your ini file and it still doesn't work. This is happening for all my emulators not just TG16. I can try reinstalling gameex but I'm pretty sure I've done that already. Its very strange that its working for you. I appreciate your time
  5. Sure, these are the Turbo Grafx bios roms, but it happens with all my emulators that have Bios roms. [BIOS] CD-ROM System (Japan) (v1.0).zip [BIOS] CD-ROM System (Japan) (v2.0).zip [BIOS] CD-ROM System (Japan) (v2.1).zip [BIOS] Games Express CD Card (Japan) (Alt).zip [BIOS] Games Express CD Card (Japan).zip [BIOS] Super CD-ROM System (Japan) (v3.0).zip [BIOS] TurboGrafx CD Super System Card (USA) (v3.0).zip [BIOS] TurboGrafx CD System Card (USA) (v2.0).zip
  6. Ya I've done it before but I don't know when this stopped working because I haven't really done any rom sorting in a while. I don't use Map files. I do have the option for Database names enabled but I don't think thats an issue. When I press Delete in the list the pop up shows say "press Select to Delete...." I do that... the screen refreshes and the rom is still there. I'm more interested in getting rid of the Bios files but the exclude feature in the setup wizard doesn't work either. GameEx.ini log.txt FullSizeRender.mov
  7. Hi, I'm trying to clean up my lists and I tried adding [bios* to the exclude list and it doesn't work, I also try to remove the games in Gamex but they don't go away. I found another thread from a few years ago but there was no fix and the thread was locked. Is this a known bug now? Did I miss a fix? Thanks
  8. Feature Request: Would it be possible to have Attract Mode scan the sub folders within the Video folder? Or add Multiple Video Folders? I'm sure many of us have Video Snaps, Video Adverts and various other Videos we'd love to see in the rotation. Merci
  9. So its confirmed this is a problem with unzipping the roms. I turned off Zip support in GameEx and all of a sudden the Emulators started working in Attract mode. Is there anyway to change the folder where the roms get unzipped so I can see if it has something to do with permissions?
  10. I'm trying to do some troubleshooting and I need to see whats happening in the background as things load. I set all emulators and programs to "SHOWDESKTOP=true" and set "HIDE DESKTOP" to NO in the Setup Wizard. I still can't see the desktop and when I ALT TAB or check the Task Manager I see HIDEOS is open. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
  11. Hi, You will have to run the Marquee Masher Plugin. This is the link to its thread.
  12. Hi, I still don't have other Emulators in attract mode. I've been trying all kinds of things and maybe I'm wrong but could it have to do with unzipping? How does Attract Mode work? Could you break it down for me? I see the file "runitgame.bat" is created, it has info when Mame or Atari 2600 games load in Attract mode (only systems that run in Attract) chcp 65001 E: CD "E:\Emulators\Atari\Stella" Stella.exe -gl_fsmax 1 -fullscreen 1 "E:\Games\No-Intro\Atari - 2600\Cookie Monster Munch (USA).zip" I also see "runit.bat" and it gets created when ever an emulator is trying to load in Attract mode. So is thise file working right? Trying to load SNES in Attract; chcp 65001 C: CD C:\Users\NN\AppData\Local\Temp\Unzipped7-Zip "E:\Emulators\Arcade\GameEx\7za.exe" l "E:\Games\No-Intro\Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertainment System\Yamaneko Bubsy no Daibouken (Japan).zip" > "C:\Users\NN\AppData\Local\Temp\Unzipped7-Zip\list.txt" Trying to load Genesis chcp 65001 C: CD C:\Users\NN\AppData\Local\Temp\Unzipped7-Zip "E:\Emulators\Arcade\GameEx\7za.exe" l "E:\Games\No-Intro\Sega - Mega Drive - Genesis\Phelios (Japan).zip" > "C:\Users\NN\AppData\Local\Temp\Unzipped7-Zip\list.txt" If I look in "C:\Users\NN\AppData\Local\Temp\" it doesn't have "Unzipped7-zip" but if I create it and load the last 'runit.bat" I see the "list.txt" file. There is no SNES rom in the "Unzipped7-zip" folder but there was a Genesis one when it tried to run. So what is supposed to happen here? Does this all make sense? From what I'm gathering, Attract mode starts, it uses "runit.bat" to unzip the rom and then it uses "runitgame.bat to load the extracted rom. If this is correct, what is the purpose f the "list.txt" file creates? Could something be wrong with 7zip? Something wrong with the location of the extracted roms? Permissions? This is driving me CRAZYYYYYY Thanks for reading all this. UPDATE: I see that "runit.bat" tried to extract another SNES rom and this time the rom WAS in the "Unzipped7-zip" folder but there was not "list.txt" file. Also the Game did NOT show up in Attract mode. log.txt
  13. Hi, I'm still having issues with it not showing other emulators, but I'm going away for awhile so I'll have to shut down my system. Maybe I'll try Evolution when I get back to see how that works. Thanks Tom
  14. Hi, I've updated to the past few updates (not sure what they were because there were no release notes) and somewhere along the way my Atari 2600 games started showing up in attract mode.... but none of the others. I still have videos and plugins disabled. So as of right now I have Mame and Atari 2600 (Stella) showing up. I've attached my log and Gamex.ini log.txt GameEx.ini
  15. I disabled all plugins and still nothing. I went and cleaned up my settings (things that gave errors when verifying) and disabled troublesome emulators and I'm watching it now and its always Mame. Have you had a chance to see if it works for you @laggerific ?? Ive added my GameEx.ini and Log file. log.txt GameEx.ini
  16. Good Morning. I left it running over night and watched it this morning for a while and I didn't see anything new. I looked at the log and I see lots of "exceptions" when loading Emulators other than Mame. Obviously you can decode the log file and I can't, but is there anything else I need to try? log.txt
  17. Ok I've removed those lines. But those emulators (19-23) are set to NOT show up in attract mode. (Its a custom Karaoke song list setup) I really haven't changed anything within my emulator setups that would effect attract mode. It always just worked. I'll let it run over night and resend my log if it still doesn't work. Thanks Tom
  18. I disabled videos and it still just shows Mame games. (been on for a couple of hours) Everything is enabled. This used to work and I don't know what version stopped working because I had my machine off for a few months an I updated it once I turned it back on. I've Attached my log file if that helps. Thank You log.txt
  19. I'm running GameEx 15.61 and its still not showing other Emulators in Attract Mode besides Videos and Mame.
  20. Hi, How do I check what version of GameEx I'm running?
  21. Here's a question, for all the Zipping and unzipping of "roms" what matters most? faster CPU or Ram? All my drives are SSD so i won't be getting much faster for that. But I'd like quicker load times for the stuff that has to be unzipped.
  22. Awesome thanks Draco. That kinda gives me a good base to start at especially the GPU since it’s been so long since I’ve had to buy one. if anyone else has ideas. I’m all ears
  23. Thanks I don’t want anyone doing my homework either but I just wanted suggestions on what chips people think will do the job. I know the fastest and most expensive will obviously work, I’m just not up to speed on what chipsets to look for, ram speeds and cpu versions. (Maybe an i7 is overkill for GameEx?) and for gpu where are we with NVidia vs AMD? (Even AMD vs Intel CPUs for that matter) Again this will be for GameEX. I have pcs for video editing and everyday use. We know the MIN Requirements listed for GameEX, what’s the SUGGESTED Hardware Requirements. thanks in advance
  24. Hey peeps, Ive decided it’s time to start upgrading my Arcade PC. My current PC is a Frankenstein machine that I put together maybe 10 years ago when I started with GameEx. It does the job but I’d like to have it running silky smooth and also future proof for Evolution. I admit it’s been a while since i read up on hardware specs so I figured I ask what you all think. I just need a Motherboard CPU (i7 or is i5 good enough and which version) Ram (depending on price i would want 16gigs) GPU (really clueless on this) Thanks for any help
  25. Great Tom thank you I really do appreciate everything you’re doing.
