Here we go again. I'm one of those unlucky souls who gets the dreaded error as follow: 09:52:46.9 5/1/2006: GameEx: Version 5.99: Starting Log 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: Operating System Name: Windows XP 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: ERROR: An error occurred while checking for previous instance of GameEx 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: This can be caused by a bad windows or .net framework install. 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: GameEx will likely function incorrectly as it cannot check for running processes 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: GameEx will now exit with errors 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: Application-defined or object-defined error. 09:52:47.0 5/1/2006: ERRORS DETECTED: EXITING I've never installed GameEx on this machine before, so it was a fresh install. I've read everything on this forum about this problem and have not been able to solve it. I have not tried reinstalling the OS as I have too many important pieces of software on this machine to start over. But I've removed .NET 1.1 and reinstalled it. I do not have, and have never had .NET 2.0 on this machine. Couple things to add: 1. I'm using XP Pro SP2. Has anybody tried doing a repair install? Does that fix anything? 2. When I try to start GameEx my A drive (floppy) is accessed. There is no floppy in the drive. If I put one in nothing different happens, the same error still comes up on the screen. Anybody else see this behavior? Maybe this is some small clue as to what is going on? This is a good machine, lots of RAM, fast processor. It is my gaming machine! This must be happening to many people who simply never post here to tell you about it. With all due respect, after reading all the problems with this issue I think you should have a sticky about it and at least start gathering info in one place. Maybe somebody will solve it someday... I think you'd have a lot more people using your software if it were solved. FYI, I installed GameEx on a slower laptop that I have and had no problems at all. All my machines are the same OS with the same patches and updates. So I'm at a loss... Of course, thanks for making this software available for free. That isn't lost on me, I know I'm not paying for it. PS: You spelled "occured" wrong in your error message, it should be: occurred
