  1. I had tried getting ZInc up and running two other times in the last few years with no success. After getting GameEx about a year ago I thought I would give it a go again....and finally tried to get it running yesterday. After 3 hours of reading differnt posts on various forums.... I finally figured out that I did not have a "zinc.cfg" file that GameEx and Zinc was being told to get some instructions from. I found a version of the cfg file someone had posted, made some minor edits to fit my setup, and Zinc finally worked. So was it just me, but I didnt have this file. Does GamEx come with it? It seems that there is NO documentation of this cfg file anywhere(other than a handful of various forum posts)...was thinking maybe GameEx should come bundled with a cfg file that the user should edit to suit their needs. I had assumed it was there since everything was being told to use the file. I had followed the directions at Arcade Controls, the post by Delusional, had to use D3d renderer to get decent fps, and create the zinc.cfg and all worked...after 4 hours. I was beginning to wonder if all the "Zinc Problems" posts may be related to a missing cfg file....or maybe that was just me.
  2. Ok, thanks everyone I appreciate the help. Turning remove duplicates to "OFF" cleared up the issue. What I find funny about the remove duplicates is that if you have two instances of a rom, for example ROM_A and ROM_B in the folder it removes them both, I would think it would leave one of them on the list. Also, for whatever reason it was removing a few roms even though there werent any duplicates or clones or different revisions in the ROM folder that I could see. But thank you, that fixed my issues.
  3. Thanks for the replies, however a few of the replies have to do with changing the mame build, which I am aware of the change in the builds breaking certain rom sets. I have not changed mame builds or rom sets. Working games dissapeared after updating GameEX, not the mame build. I will try the suggestions of GameEx settings, thanks again.
  4. I have been running the full version of GameEx for a while now and have loved it. One of the easiset front ends to get up and running. Anyway... I had decided to add a few more games to mame machine and after ignoring the update notifications for months I finally decided to let it upgrade as well as add the games. I got everything updated, added the games, and updated the list. However, most of the new games made the list, but a few of the working older games dissapeared. I updated the list again, and one or two games came back, but still several were now off the list. Tried updating the list again, but the games never came back. Any reason why this would happen? I have not changed the mame build, so the working games should have still shown up. Think I am using mame 0.136 with high score save ability, but not positive on version since I am at work. Thanks
  5. Is the theme editor available for a standalone download, rather than the full GameEx package? I just want GameEx on my arcade cabinet, but not on my main desktop PC.
  6. I realized you can make your own menus, but in my attempts with the theme editor...... lets just say they were not very successful. A bit of a learning curve to figure out how to edit the themes. It has been about4-5 years since I messed around with making a Mamewah theme, and I struggled with that back then as well.
  7. Thank looks great, I will have to download it and give it a shot. I may have to tweak the graphics to my preference and see if I can manage not to destroy it. Thanks!
  8. I have been using GameEX now fro a while, and is by far thea easiest out of the box front end I have used. I had previously been using a custom built MameWah menu layout before switching. As much as I have enjoyed using GameEx, I have been wanting a simpler menu system. Is there a way to strip it down, I have messed around with custom themese a bit, but so far I have been pretty bad at getting one set up. So to make a short story long, I found this at BYOAC forums and this person used Mala I believe, but I love the simplicity of the menu. Any way to make something similiar with GameEx?
