  1. Here are a couple more.
  2. No problem. I have a few more screens to go and I'm re-doing all of the sound bytes. They are flight sounds from the Millenium Falcon, tie fighters and other Star Wars Craft. There are also laser blasts and an attack clip from Babylon 5 as the exitscreensaver. Here is the SEGA screen. Since fusion handles Genesis, 32X and SEGA CD on it's own, I've combined the three. I just label the games accordingly and the box art helps distinguish as well.
  3. Thanks for the support and advice. FRAPS is great! Here are a couple more emulators.
  4. Those are great if you have a dedicated game/rec room. Our last house had one and I was building a full size cabinet. When we moved, we lost the extra room. I also like the ability to hook the pedestal up to any TV in any available room, or roll it into the garage when I want it out of sight. I did consider the aluminum look all around. But we have a foosball table and bar set that comes very close to matching the wood color on the pedestal. It's stored in the garage for now, but when our future house is ready, I'd like everything to match just a bit. I hesitated using a pre-fab (cheapo) cabinet. But it turned out rather well, I didn't have to mess with hinges, laminate, or paint. It is also much lighter than anything I tried to fabricate myself. I also toyed with the idea of making them to sell. The numbers just never add up when compared to the time involved.
  5. Here are a couple more emulator screens.
  6. I replied to the post. There are a lot of great cabinets out there. I actually started with an X-Arcade Tankstick I received for Christmas. I eventually came to the conclusion it was a great start, but not quite right for a cabinet. The players are too close and the trackball isn't the best. I actually kept the black buttons for player 1 and 2 and the side whites for pinball. I added better sticks, clear colored buttons for the 6 needed controls and a translucent trackball. A small I-Pac with LED blinky and I was good to go.
  7. I love all of the cabinet designs and builds on here. Unfortunately, space is at a premium in our house, so I had to go a different route. I made a pedestal cab out of a cabinet from Target. I then built a controls platform that attaches to the top. I then attached faux brushed aluminum on the top and front (e-bay - comes in self adhesive sheets). It's hard to see in the pictures, but I put black T-molding that has a silver stripe in the middle of it around the top of the control panel. I did get lazy and didn't sink the trackball and cover the plate, but I plan on re-doing it this Summer. The six buttons across the top (1p, 2p, start, back, esc, pause), and the transluscent trackball all have LED's controlled by an I-Pac. There are 6 buttons per player, as well as one on each side for pinball. The coin slot on the front is pure decoration, but the blue push button is also lit and registers as coin inputs for MAME. On the side, there is a four port USB hub for the N64 and X-Box controllers. I find these two are all I need in addition to the main control panel. There is also a brush cable wall plate (also layered with the brushed Aluminum sheet) for the power (15ft) and HDMI(20 ft metal braided) cords. Both of these are on retractable spools inside the cabinet. I put the door side of the cabinet on the back so it doesn't ruin the look, yet I can open it up to access the controllers as well as mouse and keyboard if needed. Finally, I put large, hidden casters on the bottom so I can wheel it out of the way when not in use and in front of the screen during play. It's also nice to be able to move it to the side and sit on the couch when playing console or computer games. Who could stand for a full game of Ultima, Resident Evil or Final Fantasy?
  8. Thanks for the encouragement. I am using a microsoft sans serif size 20 in a color very similar to the aqua in the corner graphics. It is 5 over in the first row of the font color picker. I am also using black as the outline color. The second attached pic is for the first selection screen. I have it set-up to choose arcade(MAME) or living room (console emulators and C-64). Image 1 is for snaps. Image 2 is for boxart (purposely not shaded: I didn't want too many shaded boxes) I'm not using Titles, time, date, weather or news feeds. Again, very simple and all controlled with joysticks and push-buttons. I am using an arcade pedestal that I built from a household cabinet. I have pics I can post if there is another thread for that. Here is another emulator screen.
  9. I just tried the FTP for EmuMovies, cannot connect to server. Hopefully this is very temporary.
  10. I know the trend is heading toward HTPC themes, but I wanted something basic just for emulators. I am also using a dedicated stand style cab running to an LCD TV, so the resolution for all screens is 1280x720. Here are a couple background shots. I don't know how to take snapshots of the screens while running in GamEx to show these with the lists, images, fonts, etc. If anyone lets me know how, I will post those. Let me know if anyone likes these, I have a few of the emulator screens finished.
  11. I tried un-installing and re-installing Daemon Tools lite: NoJoy. This block of the log catches my attention: 21:59:26.6 2/18/2012: Refreshing Keyboard 21:59:26.8 2/18/2012: Initialising Audio 21:59:26.8 2/18/2012: Relaunching HideOS 21:59:27.0 2/18/2012: Restoring Window 21:59:27.0 2/18/2012: Reinitializing Graphics System 21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: 21 Consecutive Exceptions Occured 21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. 21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: at o.a() 21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: at ag.ad() The Keyboard is refreshed. 21 consecutive exceptions sounds ominous. I don't really understand most of it, but it does sound negative. Also, I'm not sure which commands to put in the launch after box in order to add a timer.
  12. Thanks for the response. I reviewed that thread prior to setting up SSF. I actually did a search and looked over a few threads involving the emulator before attempting to set it up. The games mount and play fine. The emulator exits correctly. GamEx returns to it's screen. But my backspace and arrows are locked. If I stop the emulator on the Saturn splash screen, before the game mounts, GamEx returns in normal working condition. There is only a problem if the image is mounted and then I exit and return to GamEx. 13. Not sure why there are no further responses after my last one. I changed the Advanced Config around a couple of times. I tried the (ALT+F4) and it worked to exit SFF. However, GamEx returns locked up. So the Esc key is not the culprit. The letter keys still work, If I press them, they scroll trough the description according to the first letter of the lines shown. But the arrows and back keys are frozen. I'm thinking this has something to do with SFF exiting and Daemon tools lite unmounting the image while GamEx is returning. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  14. If I press escape in any emulator, it returns me to GamEx. This is how I exit an emulator and return to GamEx to choose another game or emulator. I'm not sure what you're asking me to do that is different than my normal operation. How does everyone else quit an emulator and return to GamEx? Maybe this is where Im running into trouble.
  15. Thanks Draco, I wasnt sure if I should start a new thread or attach to the other related one. I have been playing around with the advanced config, but Im not sure how to go about changing how SFF closes.
  16. A strange revision. If I click the left mouse button upon returning to GamEx, I can use the mouse. Arrow keys and backspace do not work. If I use the mouse to go back, select another emulator, chose a game, and then exit back to GamEx, the controls come back. This is fine for setting everything up, but when I finish and put the computer into my dedicated cab, I wont have a mouse. Please help.
  17. Thanks everyone for the help. I was having problems with SSF as well. The old style command line was working (using the launch before and launch after), but I GamEx was freezing upon exit of the emulator. It was sticking on the play this game/add to favorites page. I changed to the new way (had to use gamepimp's command line: SSF.EXE [-VIRTUALDRIVE-]) However, I am still experiencing the GamEx freeze in the same spot. Any help would be appreciated.
