Excellent companion to Pinball X! Great way to check, load, and create missing media for your Pinball X setup. Must have! Thanks for all the work you guys do! Cheers!
  1. Awesome, thanks Tom! And thanks for the reply. =D Cheers, John
  2. Hello all! Just curious if anyone has figured out how to get GameEx Evolution games to retain their played stats (last time played, number of times played) in the UI after a restart of the app? It tracks while playing, but when you restart the app all those stats are reset to NEVER and 0. I've included my gameex.ini file as well. Any help would be most appreciated! Cheers, John [GAMEEX].ini
Another great product from the GameEx team! After having a great time with the PinballX front-end, I found GameEx Evolution which again upped my DIY home arcade! Never using the first GameEx, I wanted to give the newer version a go and have had great results so far. Like I mentioned in my PinballX review, this is a great way to show off your ROM collection... more than just a way to play, but a way to marvel at how far we have come from the PONG days. As a child of the 80's arcades, this is a great way to browse through the varied systems and see screenshots, videos and other information that you would be hard pressed to find any other way. I found the setup to be a lot better than the old version (I loaded it up to see what it was like), more focused on the emulators you have installed and getting them to work. This is still in beta, and as such there are a few hiccups (can't get the number of times played stats to save for each game) but overall it is a great front-end for MAME or any other system. Thanks guys!!
I heard about pinball emulation and Visual Pinball a few months back which was pretty cool. Then I found PinballX and that changed everything! Giving the (amazing, yet convoluted) VPinball a front-end is just an incredible way to show off you pinball collection. More than a way to play, but a visual time capsule and museum for those that remember going to the arcades every day to get your fix. Reliving those moments and being able to share that is just awesome. Definitely not for those looking for an 'out-of-box' experience as you need to get your VPinball tables working first, make sure your videos/media are recorded/acquired (and in the right orientation for your setup), etc... But once you have that going, PInballX just works! Great app, thanks for the all the effort!!
  3. Well sweet! Thanks for the props guys. I've done a few YouTube's of my progress to share with my family/friends during lock-down, I'll add an entry to the post you mentioned and include there. This really has been bubbling in my head for over a decade now so it's good to finally do something about it. I'm good at creating write-ups/guides (tech Professor lol) so I'll definitely put something together as time permits. Cheers and thanks for the tips!
  4. It's really a matter of convenience (and doing something during lock-down) that I wanted to load my emulators on the pinball. I just ended up making a controller for my make-shift pinball machine and thought it would be double fun (and save on space) to include pinball/arcade in the same cabinet. I've been testing out more with GameEx EVO and it's really more a matter of getting the individual emulators positioned where I want. Most stick where I place them, while others jump to full screen. Just need to look through each emulators config/arguments and adjust accordingly. FINALLY got Daphne working and figured out CLRMAMEPRO over all this so very well worth the time I'll check out the article, thanks for sharing and here's a pic of my current Franken-PinArcade machine for reference lol
  5. Thanks for the reply! I was looking at the documentation here: https://www.gameex.com/setup-wizard-configuration-guide/ I suspect then that this is for the older GameEx release and not the Evolution release. Having MAME running is cool, but I'm actually after the Daphne support for the laserdisc games (and every other console I've got lol). Like the idea of a front end running it all to select instead of a bunch of separate apps. Any idea if the older GameEx front end would be worth loading to try? Thanks again!
  6. Hi all! I'm a big fan of your PinballX front end so I wanted to give the GameEx Evolution a try. I grabbed the latest version and did the install but I don't seem to have the Display section in my Setup Wizard as described in your documentation. Since I have a 2 monitor setup for pinball (backglass 1280x1024 and playfield 1360x768) I wanted to run the GameEx menu in on the backglass and have the various games running on the playfield monitor. I'll need to be able to modify the games from 0 - 90% rotation to fit on the playfield correctly, which I can deal with later. Right now I need the Display menu to at least start, any thoughts? Logs/screenshot attached. EDIT: I've attempted a clean uninstall (removed the 4 registry entries I could find + files) a few times and same menu. I just thought for sure the first time I went through it, Display was there... could be totally mistaken though. Thanks! John [GAMEEXEVO_LOGS].7z
