I've had this issue as far back as I can remember so GameEx version is sort of irrelevant. The audio works fine until Gameex kicks on to attract mode. Once that happens the audio is dead (not muted either). I have to exit out og GameEx and then open GameEx again and it's fine. I've had a total of 3 motherboards in this arcade (2) Intel D955XBk and (1) D975XBX2. All 3 boards have had fresh load of WINXP 32 bit and I've also tried XP 64 bit with the same exact issue. All drivers are current as well as the BIOS's were made current. I just don't have a clue how to make this minor annoyance dissapear. The only common factor is that both board types use Soundmax chipsets. Hell I dunno any ideas?

Well low and behold I'm a liar. Seems as one of my kids got into the mameui32 interface and slid the screen brightness funtion up. What puzzles me is that before it worked fine outside Gameex - ???? All is well now. Thanks for the help Brian. Happy New Year!

Issue doesn't happen when using mameui32. When Mame game launched inside Ganmeex the game appears looking like some one just cranked up the brightness on the TV. When exiting game the colors return to normal real quick. Issue started after the 2nd to last update. Just upgraded and still same issue. Using a TV and s-video out of ATI x800. I have a party tonight - really need help fast. Thanks!

CONFIRMED thanks for the archive link Hoffman. I downloaded 107.U1 and the guns work again. Clearly they have changed something - but no idea what. HooPZ I'll take you recommendation and post over at BYOAC If anyone has any otehr ideas I'll be watching the forum. Thanks guys

Thanks - exactly what I needed - I'll post the results.

My original post said that it broke in 0.108 - it also states how the guns act in 0.109 (108 they were dead and 109 at least halfway acknowledges they exist) Thanks for the link - But I'm using MAME32 not command line MAME flavor. Anyone with Mame32 archive link? I was hoping that some one with these guns can confirm or deny issues with current version 0.109.

The guns do operate in windows (acts like a mouse). Again I stress this broke some time after 0.117x. I think everyone missed where I said the mouse does work in MAME for instance AREA 51 will allow P1 button to show up as a mouse but when I attempt to set the Analog Y and X axis it won't even acknowledge the gun exists. As far as the recommendation of using 0.117 to verify - no I haven't as I no longer have that build. If someone can supply a link to it I will gladly try it out. I can try the -mouse switch in advanced Mame menu but this probelm exists outside of GameEx - thus the reason I stated immediately that this is not a GameEx issue. I appreciate everyones input tho

Issue: Broke some where in 0.108x - which wouldn't even acknowledge my guns. Guns won't calibrate X and Y analog axis - but shot does register in middle of screen with 0.119 When selecting the analog X and Y it simply won't register a shot but selecting P1 will register gun (mouse 0) Now 0.119 does see my guns and registers the gun shots in the middle of the screen but I am unable to actually calibrate the guns. NOTHING! - I know how to calibrate and has worked perfect until sometime after 0.108x What I have tried: Fresh XP Pro load Unplugging all other USB devices to eliminate possible conflict Google Posting on Mame32 forum with no resolution A fresh install of 0.119 so no past remnence was there to interfere. Making sure the guns are found at mouse 0 and mouse1 (not that it matters)(and it didn't matter) Somehow the MAME or MAME32 team have made a change that has caused my issue and I'm really hoping some one here has the fix for me. Apologize for being a forum whore here but I literally have no where else to turn. Thanks for any help or guidance

Everything works and as I said I'll be picking it up tonight. The screen is indeed burned but I was planning on gutting it for a MAME cabinet anyway. I have a friend that can custom fab a stainless steel control panel so I'll turn it into a two player cabinet. I was told it is running some Japanese Quiz game.

I just bought this baby last night for $150.00. What a killer deal for a cocktail like this. I'll physically have it tonight but I was wondering if anyone here could provide any history on this. I'm just curious as to how many of these tables were actually shipped to the US. Being 36 years old - I've never seen one like this in my life. As always thanks Tom - Gameex is truly the best there is out there!

Taken from the hide desktop guide for Mame HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Look for a string entry called 'Shell'. If it is not there, create a string entry and name it 'Shell'. Set the value of this entry to the name and location of your Front-end. For Dragon King, the shell entry may be "C:\MAME\The Dragon King.exe" or wherever your Frontends executable is located. To repair this if anything happs, boot into safe mode, go into regedit, and change this value to "explorer.exe". When you reboot, you will find that you enter windows, and not your frontend! Simple!

GameEx doesn't care where it's loaded so having it on drive K: is "ok" There is no reason why it should be looking for something in a hidden directory tho. Uninstall GameEx. This time your installation path should be set to k:\program files\GameEx Make sure you select the option to integrate into MCE "something along those lines anyway"

I've manually altered the gameex.ini and disabled items such as video, dvd, news, weather. Weather stopped appearing on the main menu list but the other items mentioned above still do. As a last attempt I ran the config wizard and it clearly sees my changes set from true to False but the items remain available "and working". Is there a cache file I need to delete or something else I need to change?

I had a few people over the other night that was playing NBA jams or some type of basketball game. The kept having the screen go black. I would do an ALT+TAB two or three times and the game would show back up. The game doesn't utilize 7 buttons but his thumb would hit the C key while he was using the ctrl key for action which would cause this. This key combo is obviously a windows hotkey for copying. I looked through the GameEx manual and see no reference to this key combo. I also looked at my IPAC 4 and there is nothing specified by default or otherwise for this combination either. So, is there anything I can do to stop this? Would disabling the desktop cure that? "some of the PC games I have wouldn't work right with that option." I'm not in front of my cab so I thought I'd troll for some ideas. Thanks

Gameex detects all mame roms, but installs about half of them
Deadly replied to stinger30au's topic in General
Did you go into GameEx config and disable any and all filtering? As in Clones, mature and so on? Did you also make sure you don't have the one filter on for Countries? "I'm not in front of my arcade right now sorry" AND if using Mame32 make sure filtering is NOT enabled - not sure if GameEx picks up on this but try it anyway Ummmm, once you've done this go back into GameEx and if it doesn't automatically ask you to update then manually force it off the main menu Also, if this doesn't work...... attach your GameEx config file. -
And for the record to "try" to help. 1.) Fresh loaded MCE 2005 with fresh install of GameEx 8.07 "NOT integrated into MCE" 2.) Using Wireless NIC which does pull an IP before GameEx is "manually" launched 3.) Wired NIC makes no difference either 4.) Old OS drive has same issue Gosh, ummm - I don't see any errors showing up on Event Viewer either. Any GameEx logs I can send you?
-
Try the following and see if it helps: 1.) Disable Anti virus software 2.) Disable the function to hide desktop in GameEx config 3.) If not using MCE make sure MCE option is disabled in GameEx config 4.) Try a different GameEx theme 5.) Update your video drivers and or system bios and as a last option 6.) Fdisk, format and reload

Thanks Adultery, not exactly the answer I wanted but it offers closure LOL! Thanks again.

Are you saying that in GameEx the game starts but savestate doesn't work at all?? I am running the latest ver's of both software packages and for what ever reason my original save states just stopped working one day. No rhyme no reason as to why. All the savestate files are there but Mame32 will create new save states every time I upgrade and all old save states are no longer recognized. Not to blame GameEx of course. Anyone else???

Corny answer here but true story. If your fonts are set too big it'll cause this type of GUI error as well.

Gameex detects all mame roms, but installs about half of them
Deadly replied to stinger30au's topic in General
I've been down this road before - certainly disable any filtering in Mame AND GameEx. I saw once that I had around 2000 roms showing up and for some strange reason I re-audited my roms in Mame32 then GameEx once again asked me to update and all the roms showed up. I now make it a habit to do this in order now. 1.) Download roms 2.) Download latest Mame and install 3.) Download latest clrmame and install 4.) Audit/update roms with CLRMAME 5.) Audit roms through Mame 6.) Open GameEx and let it update the roms list. I haven't had an issue since. Dumb luck or maybe I'm onto something?? -
Ummmm yeah. Sooooo "without any attitude meant or applied" I'm confused because all this shows me is you know how to create a DNS CNAME record???? Oh wait a minute, or is this you telling me GameEx does nothing but do a normal call to port 80?
-
Any updates on this? I don't have the windows firewall enabled. I do however have a hardware firewall. Funny thing is this feature used to work and nothing has changed on my network configuration. Is Gameex now calling out for an update on a specific port where as in the past it didn't?

I just upgraded to .111U5. I have always upgraded Mame32 in this fashion.: Unzipped/overwrite my current Mame32 dirctory. Download and overwrite my current CLRMAME directory Open clrmame which updates it's databse with the new mame32.exe Run my scan - add new roms Start Mame32 and do an audit as I have disabled the startup audit. For what ever reason now I bring up any game and the first thing I see is failed to load save state .... just like it's supposed to do when you open a game for the first time. The problem is - I'm opening games that I've had running with highscores for about a year now - now their gone? Not cool at all. I still have a ton of NV files in the NVRAM foder but it seems to just not care about them. The path is still set to NVRAM folder. I've googled and have not seen anyone reporting this problem. Anyone having the same problem or can tell me what might be wrong? Thanks for any help.
