  1. My theme is finished, well I would guess, I would like if a few could test it and see if it runs nicely on their computer too. To set-up the custom emulator background, you need to select the backgrounds in the emulators config, or in the theme.ini by associating the emulator number to the background name. However, it is 33M in size, so how do I upload it in the forum where it has 2MB max upload size?
  2. Yes I know, blueglass looks like wmp. But quite frankly, on a computer, I hardly see any 800x600 themes or less 1024 is the very least, and what I like about blue glass is the video and image size is the best imo. Most others are either too small for my liking, or full screen. If i were to put my GameEx only on TV, i might opt for a fullscreen video layout, but on a 24", even an "HQ" 640x480 videos snaps looks really bad. So I found the features of blueglass perfect for me. I got many "HQ" videos so they look really good on this theme, and even normal videos looks okay, not too blown up. What I would like to do tho, is take my current theme and bump the res to 1920x1200, keep the layout pretty much the same, keep the video same size or so, but I would display the marquee above the video, and on the right of the video in the blank space between the game list, I would put the title screen and the game box or something like it to make use of the gained space. But I tried to create a new theme and base it on my current one, and put a custom res of 1920x1200. I even modified the background and made a 1920x1200 one, but for some reason, gameex refuse to start when I choose this theme... my guess is that I only created the bak file, so probably its reading all the others files that are 1024x768 still. But I wanna finish this one first, and then I'll look more deeply into the 1920 version. Happy to know you liked it tho, even tho its wmp alike
  3. UPDATE: Here is the finished theme, I would like to have some comments and thoughts about it. If everything runs fine on others system, what to change, add, improve. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZFD0ZZVV UPDATE #2: If you are too lazy to scroll down, here is the new theme here (again I would like your comments please http://www.megaupload.com/?d=88IJ8IYN (Version 2) UPDATE #3: For the lazies.... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8QPZNOJZ (Version 2.5) Hi there, First of all, again, I cant repeat it enough time, I love GameEx! Ok and I love black themes. Unfortunately there arent many for GameEx, and even less that looks real good, no pun intended. Monochrome is okay, but I dunno... and since I only use GameEx mostly on my 24" widescreen lcd, but also when I wanna go the extra efforts and run it on tv to get real good looking street fighter action. So I cannot have a 1920 theme really, but that's okay, there is only 1 so far, wish to see more of them tho, I wouldnt mind having a real good one and switch theme to run on tv. Matter of fact, is it possible to run gameex with a parameter to change theme on startup and for this time only? So, get back on track The theme that really got my attention for my monitor/tv usage was blueglass, but didnt found the blue really good, and I just kept on seeing this theme black, so today I went and learned to use the theme maker and duplicated blueglass and made blackglass Here is a few screenshots, its not done yet, about 75% I'd say. Well not really screenshots but the background image used for the specific windows. If you ran blueglass, you'll have an idea, the layout is the same, I only fixed a few alignment problems. Main Screen Generic Emulator Screen Mame Playstation Atari 2600 To showcase the selection bar, here is a real screenie Tell me what you think, if enough would like to try it, I will submit it here when I'm done
  4. In the case of say, sega cd platform, you could have multiple image type file. IE: .bin/.cue, .iso, .mdf/.mds... so if you set up *.bin in your emu, you would get a partial list too. But I would rather say like bkenobi, its probably a filter. Didnt noticed on first read you were talking about mame in particular so unless you have some mame roms unzipped, I would doubt this would be the problem, check the filters On gameex tutorials section there is a show all mame roms videos, its gonna show you which options to enable to get the full list.
  5. its located under the enabled/disable features on the first page of the gameex config program You can enable/disable pretty much everything there
  6. Try magicdisc and magiciso, works a charm for me, even with windows 7, no other runs except poweriso so far, but poweriso isnt a driver, so it's not really a drive, even tho it shows in cdrom, it wont be detected in nulldc etc... magicdisc does tho, you can also mount via command line when you have magiciso installed too. And it is free of malware. Give it a try!

By the way, you can always try to install the vista drivers if there are some available for the geforce 3, might work... vista drivers are compatible with windows 7, I use the vista drivers for my x-fi and I used the vista drivers for my geforce too when I first installed it, the beta ones for 7 weren't up to par with vista's. But now they are WHQL so they work pretty good. Never had a crash since this update so far. To install vista drivers, right click on the .exe of the setup file and go in compatibility, and select vista sp1 or sp2, and just to make sure, check in run as admin too, they should install properly and run properly.

  9. Here is some more features that would be really nice, either let the other custom artwork folders take care of more than jpg and png, add pdf too for game guides. But IMO, what would be nicer is to create a game guide folder option like the manual one, so if there is a game guide listed with the same rom name, you could see it same as any other artwork piece, but also be available in game, gameex could know about the pause key of each emu, pause the emu and show the game guide in an overlay on top of the game, could even set transparency if its possible. Another nice feature like that would be for the maps, make a map folders to put map in, and access them in game in the same fashion. They could be in jpg, png or pdf... Another neat thing would be the option to either cycle the artwork in the game lists and in the game menu, and/or press buttons to switch to next category, ie: from cart art to box art, and support having more than one file for each game, either allow _front _back and stuff, or _1 _2 etc... If i think of anything else I'll post them here EDIT: Hmmm something else, for videos and screenshots, if you select the option from game list it should create snaps of missing game, with the options to overwrite those in place, if you would like to create better ones let say... and if you select the options from the game menu, it should create only for the selected game.

Yes, i'm running build 7077 beta still, and I'm having no problem whatsoever, either with gameex, or pretty much anything else, all emulators works good, and pretty much everything I installed, except a few select programs, some antivirus, firewall and stuff.
  11. Hi there, First I would like to say GameEx ROCKS!!!! Ok now, here is a few things I think it would make gameex even better. analog control over movie fast forward and rewind, and pictures changing speed. Also, one feature that is really missing is when you are in a particular game page, you know when you press play, and see everything you have about the game, by pressing l1 and r1 or 2, if we could move to previous and next game without going back and back in, would make it easier to see the details about a few games. What would be nice too is more transition effects everywhere, but more particularly in the slide show for pictures, all effects should be configurable in the meaning that you can toggle on/off everyone of them so that if someone doesnt like a particular one or two, he can toggle em off, or just use one in particular, and the options for randomize the effect. A zoom function similar to photoshop using 3d with the analog stick would be good too. that's about what i'm thinking about now Thank you for this awesome program, I just love it, and setting up everything to make use of it. Can't wait to see what gameex has in store for music, hope it,s good, havent tried it yet, would like to see something like amarok for linux maybe that's a bit much to ask, but it could get there
  12. Hey, here what I found works the best for my liking. Emulators: 1) MAME - MAMEUIFX32 2) Sega CD - Fusion 3) Genesis - Fusion 4) SNES - snesgt 5) NES - nestopia 6) Sega Master System - fusion 7) Atari 2600 - mess 8) Daphne - i dont have daphne's set yet, so cant really help you on that matter 9) Pinball Recreations - future pinball 10) Original Pinball - future pinball for all pinball games, visual pinball just isnt close enough to future pinball to make me use it. Future got less tables, but they look so much better Also for dreamcast and naomi I use makaron and nulldc, makaron for most games tho, it just feel better than nulldc, might be a bit harder to use at first, but once you got it running, it will run almost everything you throw at it. For playstation I use epsxe and I switch plugins whenever a game doesnt work, and project64 for n64 games. If you have a very good computer more than 3ghz per core dual core cpu, you might wanna try pcsx2 for ps2 games, I got a 6ghz dual core and I run ps2 games at about 75-90% speed, but still aint enough to make it really playable... missing not much. GameEx is such a good frontend!
